THE JAYCEE CREED
WE BELIEVE:
That faith in God gives meaning and purpose
to human life;
That the brotherhood of man transcends the
sovereignty of nations;
That economic justice can best be won by
free men through free enterprise:
That government should be of laws rather
tian of men;
That earth’s great treasure lies in human
personality;
And oy service to humanity is the best work
{ life
Rubbico: ‘The Back
Are About to Erupt’
The Back Mountain Jaycees are an all-male civic
organization ranging in age from 18 to 35. The Back
celebrate its 9th year of existence in February, 1984.
We presently have about 40 members and are con-
stantly seeking new blood to help serve our community
better. It takes manpower to run projects efficiently.
Jaycees extend the hand of brotherhood throughout the
entire world.
Jaycees are responsible for the growth of each
member that enters the organization. We are a
leadership training college for youngimen. As each in-
dividual member grows the chapter grows. The chapter
in turn serves as a Sirengihening force guiding com-
munity growth.
The Back Mountain Jaycees were involved in a
past two months. These include: Back Mountain blood
drives, the Lite Beer Run, Book Scholarships, the Home
Run Derby and Operation Ride.
Last weekend the Jaycees assisted the Back Mountain
Library with the Memorial Library Auction. Other
upcoming events include our annual Horse Show, Sept
18; a gelatin wrestling contest, tentatively scheduled for
August 7; an arm wrestling contest and a Run-A-Thon
for MDA, both still in planning stages. The Jaycees also
support the Fall Fair Association. We will be manning
the arts and crafts tents with their counterparts, The
Jay-Cettes, during that weekend, Sept 8-11.
The Back Mt. Jaycees are one of 350 chapters in the
state of Pennsylvania. They were rated No. 45 in the
state by their Jaycee peers for their work during the past
year and were rated No. 20 in the state for their work
during the period between February and April.
President Joe Rubbico claims that this will be the Back
Mountain Jaycees most memorable year in its 9 year
history. “We are striving to attain the No. 1 slot in the
state. In fact, a ranking among the country’s best would
not surprise me at all this year. The Back Mountain
Jaycees are about to erupt!’’ The club will receive its
quarterly rating during the last weekend in July, at the
Jaycees State Board meeting in Carlisle, Pa.
Back Mountain Jaycees hold its regular monthly
meeting on the first Tuesday of each month. They are
normally held at Irem Temple beginning at 8 p.m. Their
next meeting however, will be held on August 2 at Dan
Seman’s house - 7 p.m. Joe is presently accepting ap-
plications for membership. Feel free to call him at 675-
0506 if you are interested.

Today's Jaycees roll
up their sleeves, contributing
their time, talents,
energy and ideas so that this
town might grow and prosper.
Their community service
benefits us all, as they
learn to develop leadership
qualities and sound judge-
ment. Itis our privilege
to offer support and ‘
thanks to these young men for
the important work they
do in thiscommunity ...
to make it a better place.
