JAMES TONE Clergy of the Wyoming Conference of the United Methodist Church received a special recognition at the 1983 Conference sessins held at Scranton June 10-13 when four UM area clergy- men were chosen as dele- gates to the General Con- ference of the United Methodist Church to be held in May in Baltimore, Md. all four are well known in the Back Moun- tain area. Selected as delgates were Rev. William Reid of Wilkes-Barre, presently completing his fifth term as Wyoming District superintendent, served as pastor of the Carverton UM Charge; Rev. Wesley Crompton, a Trucksville native, who is currently serving as super- intendent of the Scranton UM District; Rev. Charles Gommer, pastor of the Church of Christ Uniting in Kingston, and Rev. Charles Johns of Pittston. Rev. Johns served a term as student assistant at the Carverton UM Charge in his earlier days as a UM minister. Receiving Eagle Scout honors were John son of Mr. and Mrs, John Kuderka; Thomas Tone, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Tone; Richard Morgan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Montross; and Bob Faux, son of Mr. and Mr Robert Faux, Sr. Kuderka’s Eagle Scout project was the building of concrete benches for senior citizens of the Falls area, and the 13-year old Eagle Scout was presented with a special gift by Ted Dreisbach on behalf of the Falls Senior Citizens group. Kuderka earned his Eagle Scout honor at the age of 13, one of the young- est boys scouts to receive scouting’ s high honor. Tone’ s special Eagle Scout project was the erec- tion of a marker detailing the high water marks in the Falls area of the Sus- quehanna River during flood times in 1952, 1972 and 1975. The marker is destined to aid Falls resi- dents in determining what action to take in flood times. Tone is a graduate of Pittston Area High School and is serving as a captain in the United States Army Reserves. He plans to study law at the University of Pennsyl- vania in Philadelphia. The special Eagle Scout project selected by Scout Richard Morgan was, the erection of street signs in the Falls area; Eagle |The annual Rotary Leadership Camp will be held at Keystone Junior College the week of June 19. Outstanding sophomore students from Northeastern vocational seminars, designed fo hélp them with educational and vocational opportunities after high school graduation.
