A--Not really. I've tried to stimulate in-
terest among young blacks by lecturing at
junior clinics and high schools. After all,
they aren’t all going to run 9.5 hundreds or
grow up to be six foot-seven. I'd like to see
more blacks taking up the game.
Q--How about defending your title in the
Anheuser-Busch Classic?
A--I'm looking forward to playing here at
_ Kingsmill. It's a challenging golf course. I

There’s so much to do around here for the
week.
Q--What is your reason for participating in
the second tour every so often?
A--I got my start there and it helped me get
established. I feel it’s my duty to play in
some of their events just to help them out.
The Anheuser-Busch Golf Classic is
scheduled for July 18-24.

Don’t most weekend golfers believe they
are better players than they really are?
Most weekend warriors will now and
then toss a club after hitting a sorry shot.
Some weekend warriors will give
playing lessons to partners and think
nothing of holding up the rest of the course.
A majority of weekend warriors will not
leave a better foursome play through.
Why do weekend warriors panic when
they see that Summer Rules are posted?
Why do most weekend warriors change
balls when the yreach the green for putting
purposes?
The good weekend warriors will play
golf on Mother’s Day.
Some weekend warriors will talk during
another player’s backswing and think
nothing of it.
Don’t all weekend warriors like to wear
shirts from famous golf courses where
some of the PGA Tour events are held?
Despite being outfitted in U.S. Open shirt
and hat, spiffy slacks and shoes, a
weekend warrior will play XXX-out balls.
It’s just not a weekend warrior’s style to
wear shorts on the golf course. ”
Weekend warriors despise it when a
fellow player walks behind him while he’s
putting. :
Most weekend warfiors will fix ball
marks on the greens and even take the
time to rake sand traps.
Your true weekend warriors have at one
time or another busted a putter in
frustration.
Weekend warriors thrive on putting on
freshly cut greens and complain when the
greens aren’t rolling smooth and true.
Don’t most weekend warriors spend too
much time over a shot which is what
they've learned from the pros on TV?
Don’t most weekend warriors have a
tendency to feel they have a tournament in
the bag after posting some goed scores
early in a round, only to collapse on the
backside.
What's more aggravating for a weekend
warrior than to hit a decent shot only to
have the ball take a crazy bounce info a
sand trap and wind up in big old foot print?
Most weekend warriors like to tee off
before nine in the morning.
All weekend warriors own at least three
or four different putters and will change as
soon as the putts don’t fall.
Generally, most weekend warriors love
to carry inflated handicaps.
Practice for a weekend warrior consists
of hitting a few chips and putting for only a
few minutes before attacking the golf
course. s
Last but no least, if most of us weekend
warriors had to depend on making a living
from playing consistent golf, we'd all
starve!
