Art Show
“Klaus Ihlenfeld, the Sculptor ‘and Collector’ is
nowshowing in the College Misericordia Art Gallery.
The show will run until June 3.
‘Music Man?
This weekend, Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre, this
year celebrating its 60th anniversary, will present
Meredith Wilson's ‘The Music Man.” Performances are
scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 20 and 21 at
Main Street Playhouse.

First Aid
The American Red Cross, Wyoming Valley Chapter
will conduct a 54-hour Advanced First Aid course
starting on May 23. The course will meet on Monday,
Wednesday and Friday, May 23 through July 1, from 9
a.m. to 12 noon. The course will be held at the Chapter
House on South Franklin Street.
The Advanced First Aid and Emergency Care Course
is designed for use by persons who are responsible for
giving emergency care to the sick and injured. Students
receive a certificate, valid for three years, upon
successful course completion.

Spring Festival
The Senior Citizens of The Meadows Social Club will
sponsor a Spring Festival on May 20, at The Meadows
Apartments, Dallas from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. All items
made by the residents include original paintings and
prints, handmade arts and crafts, handpainted ceram-
ics, and fresh home baked goods. There will also be
ments to be sold include hot dogs, pizza, soda and
coffee. The Spring Festival is chaired by Margaret
Williams. Parking is available. The Meadows Apart-
ments are located opposite to the main gate of College
Misericordia. The Meadows is a housing project for the
elderly sponsored by The Ecumenical Enterprises
Incorporated. :
Dance Presentation
Residents of Wyoming Valley are invited to the third
annual dance presentation, ‘Movement, Music and
Magic,” as performed by the Wyoming Seminary Dance .
Company.
Originally set for April 22, the show has been re-
scheduled for Friday, May 20, at 8 p.m. in the
Buckingham Performing Arts Center, Sprague Avenue,
Kingston. The performance is free of charge.
A reception with refreshments will follow the perform-
ance.
Air Show
The Wilkes-Barre-Scranton International Airport in
conjunction with the Armed Forces Week Committee of
Northeastern Pennsylvania is sponsoring the First
Armed Forces Week Air Show at the facility on
Saturday and Sunday, May 21-22.

The event promises to be an interesting and informa-
tive occasion and opportunity for residents of Northeast-
ern Pennsylvania to become more familiar with the
importance of aviation to our nation’s defense as well as
to the local economy of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
The Back Mountain East La Leche League started a
new, series of meetings on Tuesday, May 17. The group
will meet once a month from May until August in the
home of Mary Lou Kurlancheek in Dallas. Over the next
three months, the following subjects will be discussed:
Art of Breastfeeding and Overcoming Difficulties; Baby
Arrives-The Family and the Breastfed Baby; and
Nutrition and Weaning. In addition to the monthly
meetings, the group features a lending library and
phone counseling. For more information contact Mrs.

Solo Club
. Solo Club lists activities for May: Saturday, May 21,

Widows Club
Back Mountain Widows Club will meet at Trucksville
United Methodist Church on May 21, at 12:30. Covered
dish luncheon. Dorothy Sisco will preside. Widows are
welcome.
Fire Police
The Bi-monthly meeting of the Luzerne County Fire
Police Association will be conducted at the Wright Twp.
Fire Department on Wednesday, May 18 at 7:30 p.m. All
members are urged to attend and participate in the
meeting.
Vets Meet
Veterans of the Vietnam War, Post 2, will meet
Thursday, May 19, at 8 p.m., at the Coral Lounge, 245
Owen Street, Swoyersville. The Veterans of the Vietnam
War is a full service organization open to all veterans.
Bar-B-Q
Dallas Unico Chapter will hold its annual Family Style
Bar-B-Q at the Gate of Heaven gymnasium on May 25,
Bar-B-Q, beverages, salad and Italian desserts will be
served on an ‘‘All you can eat” basis. This has become
an event that people look forward to every May. Dallas
Unico urges the public to attend and enjoy the food.
Anyone interested in joining Unico may obtain infor-
mation from members at the Bar-B-Q. As always,
proceeds are donated to charity. Tickets can be
purchased in advance from the members, or at the door.
Co-chairmen for the affair are Bill Falzone and Dan
Scalzo.
Couples Club
The Couples Club of the Idetown United Methodist
Church has made plans for this year’s auction to be held
on June 18 at the Lehman Horse Show Grounds
Presentation
The Dallas Junior High School will host parents of
students currently in the sixth grade, on Wednesday,
May 25, at 7 p.m., in the Junior High School Auditorium.
The program will consist of a presentation by Mr.
Daniel M. Poorman, principal, Mr. Leon Trager,
assistant principal, and Dallas Junior High guidance
counselors.
Following the informational program, parents of
students who will be attending the school next year will
have an opportunity to ask questions, and will then tour
the school. All interested parents are welcome to attend.
Refreshments will be served.
Nearly New Sale
The Altar and Rosary Society of Gate of Heaven
Church is collecting items for their “Nearly New’ sale
which will be held this year on June 10 and 11. Articles
of clean used clothing and houisewares are needed.
Items may be dropped off at the rectory garage from
1:30 to 3:30 Monday through Thursday.
P.A.K.
The next meeting of Parents and Kids (P.A.K.) will be
held on Tuesday, May 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Dallas
Junior High School.
Homecoming
There will be a homecoming at the Beaumont School
in Beaumont, for all former students, faculty and their
families and friends on Sunday, May 29, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Refreshments will be available.
Plant-Book Show
The seventh annual Plant and Book Show and Sale
will be held Saturday, May 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at
the Oldest House, East Main Street, Laceyville, Pa.
Garden, bedding and house plants will be offered and
books of all kinds will be sold at very reasonable prices.
Good magazines and records have also been promised
for the sale.
A lunch menu of wimpie sandwiches, hot dogs, hot and
cold drinks will be available.
Installation
On Thursday, May 19, at 8 p.m., Caldwell Consitory,
Valley of Bloomsburg will hold a public installation of
the newly elected officers of the coordinate bodies at the
Cathedral in Bloomsburg.
It is the first time in several years that family
members and friends are invited to witness the cere
mony of Scottish Rite installation of officers, many of
whom are from the Wyoming Valley area.
The highlight of the evening will be the installation of
Illustrious William O. Johnson, 33rd degree as Com
mander in Chief.

Fine Arts Fiesta
Be sure and attend the Fine Arts Fiesta beginning
activity and all proceeds are used to improve the churc
and church house. Anyone wishing to donate anything
may call 477-5219 after 5 p.m. or 639-5300 anytime.
Horlacher League
The Bob Horlacher Memorial Little League will hold
its monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 18 at 8 p.m. at
the Beaumont School. All coaches and managers and
any interested parents from all areas are invited.
