As members of the
Handbell Ringers
(AGEHR), they have
attended regional and
national festivals in Urinus
and Bloomsburg, and in
Kentucky, Georgia, Mas-
Ohio. and
Toronto.
This year ’s festival will
be held in Berkeley, a trip
looking forward to attend-
ing. They have often per-
formed as soloists for

and were selected in 1980
as a demonstration choir
for the seminars in
advanced ringing tech-
niques held during work-
shops at Bowling Green
Stat® University. Last
year they were critically
acclaimed soloists at the
Wilkes-Barre Handbell
Festival. :
Through their concerts,
the Youth Ringers have
contributed to many chari-
table organizations, includ-
ing the Salvation Army,
World Hunger
Wycliffe Bible Translators,
UNICEF, and
recently to the Valley
Food Pantry, a local orga-
nization that helps the
growing population of
needy stemming from
unemployment.
Students
Tour
On April 12 the second
grade students from Lake-
Noxen toured the Forty
Fort Theater.
After looking around the
theater and being shown
how the movies are
projected, they saw two
Walt Disney films, ‘‘The
‘Sword and the Stone’ and
“Winnie the Pooh.” They
were also treated to pop-
corn and soda.

to the movies were pro-

Council Meets
Dallas Borough Council meeting scheduled for Tues-
day, May 17 has been changed to Wednesday, May 18,
due to the Primary Election.
Rummage Sale
Rummage Sale, Thursday and Friday, May 12 and 13
from 9:30 to 3 p.m. at Noxen-Monroe Sportsman’s Hall,
Noxen.
Sports Show
Lou Michaels will be the featured celebrity at the
Sixth Annual Wilkes-Barre Baseball and Sports Memor-
abilia Show on Saturday, May 14 at Nedoff’s Restaurant,
Wilkes-Barre.
Michaels will be on hand from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and will
be available to sign autographs and speak to those in
attendance. No charge for admission.
Book Club
The Book Club of Back Mountain Memorial Library
will meet Monday, May 16, at 1:30 in the annex. Mrs.
Dana Crump will preside. Following the business
meeting Robbie Moore will show part of her large
collection of sea shells and talk about them. Hospitality
committee, headed by Mrs. Earl Phillips and Mrs.
James Alexander will serve tea. Guests are welcome.
Widows Club
The Back Mt. Widows Club will meet at the Trucks-
covered dish luncheon at 12:30. Widows are invifed.
Dorothy Sisco, President, will preside at the meeting.
Run
Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, will sponsor its second
annual Five Mile Run on Sunday, May 15, beginning at 1
p.m.
The run is open to all age groups with over 70 trophies
to be awarded to the top finishers. Also, official running
shirts will be presented to all entrants.

Dallas Area Gridiron Club will meet Wednesday, May
11, 8 p.m. at American Legion in Dallas. Purpose of this.

Sunday School
The Sunday Schoo! of Dallas United Methodist Church
will hold its monthly Sunday School Assembly, May 15
at 10 am. The Adult Class will host this month’s
assembly.
JT Ambulance
Jackson Twp. Ambulance Assn., will have its monthly :
meeting on May 12, 7:30 p.m. Edward Havrilla will
preside. New members are always welcome.
The annual Fund Drive is underway with May 15 the

Food Drive
Boy Scouts of America, Troop 233,:Shavertown, will be
conducting a food drive.
Items needed included canned food, baby food, baby &
formula, Pampers, canned milk, spaghetti, macaroni }
and cereal products. These products will be used in the
Salvation Army Food Program.
Food donations will be accepted until May 17.

Women Meet
Women with the Veterans of the Vietnam War, will
meet Thursday, May 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the Coral
Lounge, 245 Owen St., Swoyersville. Any woman inter-
ested in supporting the Vietnam Veterans is welcome to
attend.
Trout Stocking
The Pennsylvania Fish Commission has announced its ;
trolit stocking schedule for the week of May 9. In
Luzerne County the following bodies of water will be
stocked: Bowmans Creek, Harveys Creek, Irena Lake.
In Wyoming County there will be no stocking this week.
Parade
On Saturday, June 18, Nesbitt Memorial Hospital
Auxiliary will conduct its first annual parade in
conjunction with the June Festival activities. ‘
According to Miriam Tomasetti, parade organizer, the
parade is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
Interested groups and individuals who would like to ®
participate in the parade are urged to contact Fred =
Howe at 288-1411, ext. 4025 until 4 p.m. or Mrs.
Tomasetti at 288-8067 after 4 p.m.
Couples Club
The Couples Club of the Idetown United Methodist'®
