Swoyersville, by Rev. John
Masakowski. Mrs. Cwalina
is the former Lorraine
Zenda, daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Zenda, Swoyersville. Cwa-
lina is the son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cwa-
lina, Pringle.
Their attendants were
Marna Merril, Joseph
Cwalina, Roseann Ska-
pura, Stephen Gurick,
Judy Cadden and Joseph
Mikulka. Ringbearer was
Kenneth Gavlick and
lower girls were Sandy
Fumanti and Janice Hen-
nessey.
The Cwalinas are the
parents of three children,
Peter Jr., Paul and Debra.

Cwalina is employed at
the Bureau of Employ-
ment Security office,
Wilkes-Barre. . Mrs. Cwa-
lina is a nurse at Valley
Crest.

their 14th wedding anni-
versary Tuesday. They
were married on May 17,
1969 by Msgr. Joseph Meir
at St. Boniface Church,
Wilkes-Barre. Mrs.
Munley is the former
Rosemary Olerta, daugh-
ter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Olerta,
Wilkes-Barre. Munley is
the son of James Munley,
Wilkes-Barre and the late
Irene Munley. :

Munley.
Mrs. Munley is
employed by the Wyoming
Area School District.

BEDNARSKI, 149 Simpson
St., Swoyersville will cele-
brate their 19th wedding
anniversary Monday. They
were married on May 16,
1964 at St. John’s Church,
Luzerne by the late Rev.
Cyril Frankovich. Mrs.
Bednarski is the former
Carol Stelma, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Adam
Stelma, Swoyersville. Bed-
narski is the son of Mrs.
Helen Bednarski and the
late Alphonso Bednarski,
Wyoming.
parents of three children,
Kenneth, Joseph and
karen.
Mr. Bednarski is owner
of Bednarski Monuments
Mayor Anthony Stefan-
osky of Milbre St., Swoy-
ersville is a surgical
patient at the Nesbitt Hos-
pital. His family, neigh-
bors and many friends
wish him a speedy recov-
ery and hope to see him up
and around soon. The
mayor, a top former ath-
lete enjoys watching the
baseball games at Roose-
velt Field.

Watkins St., Swoyersville
is a medical patient at
Nesbitt Hospital. Her
family and many friends
wish her a speedy recov-

Swoyersville lost two of
its finer citizens this past
week as Mrs. Mary O’Don-
nell of Main Street and
Frank Kollar of "Noyes
Ave., passed away. Both
were well known and liked
by everyone and will be
sadly missed by their fam-
ilies and friends.

innaugural Golf Tourney
this coming Saturday at
the Happy Valley Golf
Course in Exeter.. Chair-

Tuesday, May 17 is the
Primary Election. All
registered voters of Swoy-
ersville, Luzerne and
Fort are asked to
get out and exercise their
right to vote.
This year is a Judge
election, Luzerne County
Officers and local candi-
dates of various boroughs.
The Democrats of Swoy-
ersville will have the fol-
lowing running for office:

UDAG Grant
In an effort to stimulate
and or retain business and
industry within the com-
munity, Swoyersville Bor-
ough has initiated prelimi-
nary efforts to pursue an
Urban Development
Action Grant. The UDAG
will seek to assist business
and industry in the expan-
sion of the structure as
well as the purchase of
fixed assets Eligibility is
also extended to multifam-
ily, investor owned resi-
dential units. {
The industrial provisions
of the program are not
guite so liberal as the
small business facet, how-
assistance may be much
greater in dollars yet may
not exceed 25 percent of
overall eligible needs. The
Borough expects to submit
its application for the
August application period. .
any business or industry
within the community is
encouraged to contact the
coordinators office as soon
as possible for further
information or letters of
intent. Working capital is
against Robert Allen. In
the second ward, John
Lykon is the organization
incumbent Lillian Munley.
In the third ward, incum-
bent William Lehman has
no opposition, as does aud-
itor candidate and incum-
bent Steve Kubasti.
On the Republican side,
with Robert Tobias as
chairman, Bob will be the
candidate in the first
ward, Edmund Gonglefski
in the second ward and
Charles Zambito in the
third. The three have no
opposition. They have no
candidate for auditor.
Weather permitting, a
large crowd is expected to
get to the polls. Incumbent
Edward Brominski is the
only local candidate run-
ning as he is the incum-
bent County Commis-
sioner. 4
There are various other
independents running for
all offices except the
coronor’s office, as Dr;
George Hudock is the only
one without any opposi-
tion.

Congratulations to
Michael and Veronica
Koval on the recent addi-
tion of a son, Michael
Joseph. They also have a
daughter, Elizabeth Ann.
The Koval’s are stationed
at Annapolis, Md., where
Mr. Koval is a hospital
corpsman in the Navy.
This is the sixth grand-
child for both the maternal
and paternal grandpar-
ents. Paternal grandpar-
ents are Michael and Bette
Sentigar of Owen St.,
Swoyersville and Joseph
and Eois Koval, maternal
grandparents also of Owen
St., Swoyersville. Maternal
great-grandfather is
Michael Sentigar Sr.

play on Sunday, June 26 at
Happy Valley Golf Course
in Exeter. Chairman of the
tourney are Dick Evanoski
in Wyoming and also asso-
ciated in the trucking busi-
ness.

in receiving a substitute
teacher application for the
current school year.
Qualified persons inter-
ested in substitute teach-

School District Central
Administration Office.
Dr. Jacoby states that
presently, there is a scarc-
ity of substitute teachers
on the secondary level in
all areas except English
and social studies.
