The first game of the season pitted Ann’s Cafe of Hughes Street against Cutter’s Auto Parts sponsored by Cutter Karasinski and Bobby Gaydos. It will be in- teresting to see who won. Foreign Auto and David Ertley. -0- The Roosevelt Softball Field will be busy all week as the Girls Minor and Major Traveling League will be using the field when the C Division is not playing. j Take in the Little League at Hemlock St. and the Teeners and American Legion team and John Milius’ Sunday team at Roosevelt Field, we will have plenty of baseball again this year. With all of the signs for election around, this reminds you of the old days when election was very spirited. There will be two highly contested elections on May 17 on the Democratic ticket. In the first ward Democratic organization under John Adamchak will back John Butchko against in- dependent Robert Allen Jr. and in the second ward, the organization will be backing John Lykon against incumbent Lillian Munley. All others, William and Lehman will have a free ride in the third ward as the in- cumbent. Steve Kubasti is the incumbent candidate for auditor. On the Republican side, Chairman Bob Tobias is the candidate for council in the first ward, Edmund Gonglefski in the second and James Zambito in the third. Tickets can be purchased from any of the members or at the door on the night of the affair. -0- Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Shedlarski, former residents of Swoyersville who now reside at 60 Durkee St., Forty Fort as they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past Friday. They were married on April 29, 1923 by the late Rev. Clement Drapierski at St. Mary's Church in" Swoyersville. Mrs. Shedlarski is the former Angeline (Nellie) Potera of Swoyersville. POOL LEAGUE TO BEGIN: Steve Adamchak Jr. and Ted Rydzewski, co-chairmen of the new Shanky’s Pool League announced it will be held on Thursday evenings with three men to a side and every player playing at least two games. An organization meeting is planned. The league will consist of eight teams. The fish will actually total 3,298,000 with 15 percent brook trout, 42 percent brown trout and 43 percent rainbow trout. The trout come from both - Pennsylvania and Federal hatcheries. State hatcheries are expected to produce 2,459,750 with an additional 700,000 from cooperative nursery programs. State hat- cheries should yield 1,967,000 in streams and 492,750 in lakes. Federal hatcheries will contribute 138,250. Of this total 110,100 will come from streams and lakes in the Alleghany National Forest and other federal areas. Trout waters scheduled to be stocked throughout YOUR DIET ITEM SINCE THE | co-chairman. the state include a total of 795 streams running 4,344.5 miles and en- compassing 20,147.8 acres. A total of 99 lakes will be stocked en- compassing 5,988 acres. Total acreage equals 26,135.8. The trout will come from 9 state hat- cheries and 2 Federal hatcheries. It will be transported in 43 state and three Federal trucks. Magistrate Andrew Barilla showed up at the Swoyersville Senior Citizens Center -Project Head meeting to pass out books bout senior citizens. When he brought the books he was quite em- barrrassed as he had only 82 and there were 136 in attendance. Although he was kind of flabber- gasted, the Magistrate is never one without words and he decided to speak a few. He said that he was very surprised and happy to see the big crowd and when told this is what they have just about every meeting he couldn’t believe it. He congratulated members on what they are doing and how they help each other out. His short talk was well received and he promised to have all of the books in the very near future. Angelo . The law, which regulates driveways and imposes the need for driveway permits, was adopted as part of the State Highway Law of 1945.
