News Briefs
Harveys Lake property owners are now required to
replace worn out driveway drainage pipes, according
to a new ordinance passed by Council last week. The
new law is aimed at keeping excess water off borough
roads. Pipes will be installed by the road department
free-of-charge, but residents must pay for the pipes.
The Oak Hill Water Company, serving 139 residential
@ customers in Lehman Township has requested a rate
hike of 30.5 percent. The raise will generate $5,500
which it says is needed to offset higher operating costs.
If approved, the increase will raise customers’ bills
from $131 to $171 per year.
The Hearthstone Steak Pub, Main ST., Dallas, and
owners Richard Chaney and Ronald Post were charged
with selling liquor to minors and allowing underage
drinkers to frequent the bar. Citations were filed with
District Justice Leonard Harvey by the state liquor
control board. The charges carry fines of $100 to $500.
They result from a March 24 raid of the establishment
during which five underage drinkers were also issued

Lynn, 14, was picked as
the grand prize winner in
Kunkle Motors’ Open
House celebration
drawing last week. He is
presently the new owner
of a Yamaha Midnight 50
Special and he’s thinking
it’s one of the most ex-
citing things ‘which have
happened to him during
his lifetime.

Sandy, is ‘a Dallas Post
employee. She said the
boy will not be riding the
bike on the street because
of his age, but the family
has 13 acres of land ad-
jacent to their home so
he’ll have plenty of space
to enjoy his new toy.
The bike was awarded
as the highlight of Kunkle
Motors’ Open House cele-
bration which ran from
April 9-17.
Kunkle Motors is owned
by Dan Meeker. It is an
authorized dealership for
Saab Automobiles,
Yamaha Motorcycles and
Bolens Garden Equip-
ment.
Activities of the Dallas
Band Parents Association
include a bake sale to be
conducted at the I.G.A.
market in Dallas shop-
ping center on Saturday,
April 30, beginning at 9
a.m. All proceeds will be
applied to current needs
of the high school band
through its support
organization.
Regular meeting of the
Dallas band parents is
slated for Tuesday, May
3, at 7:30 p.m. in the
senior high band room.
All band parents from
senior and junior high
should attend.
On Friday, May 13, the
Dallas Senior High Band
will be feted at a banquet
in its honor by the Band
Parents Association. This
event will be held in the
senior high cafeteria at
6:30 p.m. Parents of band
members are invited to be
present and should make
reservations with any of
the organization’s of-
ficers.
On Friday evening,
May 20, the Junior High
School Bands will present
a public concert at7:30 in
the schoool auditorium
with the theme “Infinite
Variety in Music.”” There
is no charge for the event
which will feature 70
musicians in three band
ensembles.
