Good ~~ old-fashioned
cooking is what Sharon
and Jim Cunningham,
owners of the Town House
Restaurant, located in
Dallas next to Rea and
Derick’s Drug Store offer
their customers.
Sharon and Jim’s main
objective is to provide
their patrons with an
enjoyable meal at a
reasonable price.
‘Open each day for
breakfast at 6 a.m., the
Town House serves
breakfast, lunch and
dinners closing at 7 p.m.
(except on Sundays when
it closes at 2 p.m.). Jim’s
Chili is a house specialty,
with not even Sharon
knowing the secret recipe.
Homestyle
Grandma's Rice Pudding
and a variety of tasty
meals, both hot and cold,
are available. For
dessert, various flavors of
ice cream and pie provide
a delicious way to end
your meal.
‘Tasty Chowder,” a
recipe created by
Sharon’s mother, Vera
Weisoly and ‘‘Seafood
Salad” have been two
popular menu items.
Tasty Chowder combines
haddock and whitefish
chunks with clams, vege-
tables and seasonings for
a delicious soup. Canned
tomatoes can be added to
it if desired.
Seafood Salad is a new
recipe recently tried by
Sharon and which proved
to be a customer pleaser.
The recipe, which makes
a large amount of salad,
can. be cut down. for
family use. Sharon’s
recipe calls for sea legs
and a mock crab product
(but crab can be used).
Sharon serves her seafood
salad with lettuce, tomato
slices and hard boiled
eggs as a platter or in pita
bread, which she says is
also delicious.
Sharon is no newcomer
to the restaurant
business, having worked
as a waitress for 15 years
before she and her
husband purchased the
Town House two years
ago. The staff at the Town
House enjoys a close
relationshjip with its
customers.
Sharon describes
operating the Town House
as ‘“‘a lot of work,” but
adds ‘“We’ve met a lot of
nice people.”
The Cunninghams, who
have five children, Scott,
18; Kimberly, 16;
Michael, 15; amanda 3
and Matthew, 1, naturally
enjoy children and young
people. In her spare time,
Sharon sells Avon while
Jim is an avid hunter.
Sharon and Jim do the
bulk of the cooking, al-
though they do have a
cook who assists them.
Their staff, Michael,
Kimberly and Sharon’s
mom Vera, all help make
things run smoothly.
In addition to serving
food, the Town House
offers its customers
newspapers, video games
and a juke box are
available for the
customer’s enjoyment.
Lottery tickets can be
purchased at the Town
House. In fact, one of their
regular customers was
recently a $5,000 winner.
Although the Cun-
ninghams have owned the
Town House for two
years, the restaurant
itself has been in opera-
tion for over 20 years. One
feature that is almost
unheard of today is their
case of nickel candy. If
you want to give your
children a real treat, let
them take: their pick from
the Town House glass
candy case filled with
inexpensive goodies.
A corner restaurant
with friendly owners and
good food. Sounds nice,
doesn’t it? That's the
Town House!

Auto
Discounts
A greater number of
retired persons will be
eligible for discounts on
motor vehicle registration
fees as a result of a law
passed last year by the
General Assembly.
Rep. Frank Coslett said
that retired persons who
meet the income
eligibility standard will be
required to pay only $10
for their registrations,
instead of the usual $24
fee. The new law raised
the income-eligibility
ceiling from $7,500 to
$9,000.
This is the first time
many senior citizens will
be able to take advantage
of the new limit since a
large number of
registrations expire in
March. PennDOT has
already sent these ifi-
dividuals renewal forms.
Persons who have part-
time employment are still
entitled to the reduced fee
if they are retired from
their principal oc-
cupation. Persons
receiving unemployment
compensation or welfare
Coslett said that some
citizens may not be aware
of the new ceiling because
some of the old forms
listing $7,500 as the
maximum income are
still in circulation.
The Luzerne County
legislator said that
PennDOT has informed
him that the old forms
cannot be used.
The new forms may be
obtained from Rep.
Coslett’s office at 1265
Wyoming Ave., Forty
Fort. Phone 288-3990.
