Good Friday Services
Ministers from six area Baptist churches will join for a
special Good Friday evening service at 7 p.m. on April 1
in the Northmoreland Baptist Church at Cen-
termoreland. 3
Topic for the service will be ‘The Cross of Jesus
Christ.” Rev. James Howell is pastor of the Nor-
thmoreland Baptist Church. The public is invited to
attend the special service.
Participating pastors will include Rev. Thomas
Bonham of Calvary Bible Chapel, Muhlenberg; Rev.
Daniel Brubaker of Roaring Brook Baptist Church; Rev.
Jack Cooper of Bloomingdale Baptist Church; Rev. Fred
Clifford of Dallas Community Church, ann Rev. Wayne
Reese of Victory Baptist Church, Lehman.
Wolff Debut
Hugh Wolff, music director of the Northeastern
Pennsylvania Philharmonic will present his piano debut
at the upcoming performance in the current Season of
Musical Treasures. Two concerts will be held on Friday,
April 1 at the Masonic Temple in Scranton and Saturday,
April 2, at the Irem Temple in Wilkes-BArre. Both begin
at 8:30 p.m.

Lions Egg Hunt
The Kingston Twp. Lions Club will hold its® Annual
Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 2 at 10 a.m. at the
Westmoreland Elementary School.
The event is for Kingston Twp. children, ages 1-12.
Sunrise Service in Lehman
The annual Easter Sunrise Service will begin at 6 a.m.
at the Lehman United Methodist Church, Lehman, on
April 3.
There will be a special organ and instrumental music
before the service with Rosendo Santos, organist,
directing.
The Rev. James Wert is guest speaker assisted by Rev.
Alfred Unterreiner, pastor of Lehman charge.
There will be special music by the Senior Choir.
Coffee and rolls will be served by the Friendship Class
in the church Social Rooms following the service.
Disabled Vets to Meet
Chapter 9, Disabled American Veterans, Wilkes-
Barre, will hold its monthly meeting Monday, April 4,
7:30 p.m. at the Scott Street VFW, Wilkes-Barre.
If you can’t attend the meeting, contact Commander
Faber concerning volunteer work for its membership
drive for the Chapter. Phone 824-9346. Your cooperation

Teachers Tips
College Misericordia’s Division of Education will
sponsor a free seminar entitled “Travel Tips for
Teachers” on Monday, April 4. The program will be held
in the Kennedy Lounge at the College, beginning at 7:30
p.m.
The seminar will cover such topics as thetypes of
educational travel available for teachers, especially
during the summer months, and qualifying for income
tax credits for travel.
Aerobic Classes
Get in shape for spring with aerobic dance classes
starting April 5 and running Tuesdays and Thursdays
from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. at the educational building of
Trucksville United Methodist Church.
The fee is $25 for six weeks. Babysitting will be avail-
able. Conducting the classes will be certified instructor
Connie LaJeunesse.

Ski Club Meet
The Wyoming Valley Ski Club will hold its general
monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 5 at Gus Genetti’s
Motor Inn, Wilkes-Barre at 8:15 p.m.
Final details on the annual spring banquet to be held on
Saturday, April 30 at Guss Genetti’s Motor Inn will be
presented by Bob Novak, chairman. Reservations will
also be taken at this time.
Anyone interested in joining the coed softball team is
asked to attend this meeting. Information will be given
on the formation of the team. The public is invited to
attend.
Band Parents Meet
Dallas Band Parents’ monthly meting is slated for
Tuesday, April 5, at the band room of the Dallas Senior
High. The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m., rather than the
previous 7 p.m.
Parents of all students in both junior and senior high
schools are urged to be in attendance. A number of vital
points of information will be presented which directly
affect all students. Lorraine DelGaudio will preside.
The program will be run on four consecutive Wed-
p.m., beginning April 6.
Divorce Program
The Family Service Association of Wyoming Valley, a
member agency of the United Way, is sponsoring a
family life education program entitled, “Women of
Divorce.”
The group will meet five consecutive Tuesdays,
starting April 6, and will be held from noon till 1:30 p.m.
Group size is limiled, so preregistration is recom-
mended. Women wishing to participate should call 823-
5144.
Basketball Benefit
The Back Mountain Police Association will play the
N.Y. Playboy Club Bunnies in a benefit basketball game
for the March of Dimes.
The game will be played on Sunday, April 17, at 6 p.m.
at the Dallas Senior High Gym. Transportation of the
Playboy Bunnies will be courtesy of Martz Trailways.

Teen Understanding
Dallas Junior High-School will host the family service
association representative Teddi BerlatSky for a
program entitled ‘‘Understanding Your Teen—-Opening
Communication,’”’ on Wednesday, April 6, at 7 p.m.

Engineers to Meet
The Institute of Industrial Engineers, Wilkes-Barre-
Scranton Chapter 137 of the American Institute of
Industrial Engineers, will meet on Thursday, April 7, at
the Holiday Inn, Route 315, Wilkes-Barre.
There will be a cocktail hour between 5 and 6 (pay as
you go bar), with dinner at 6 p.m., at a cost of $11 per
person.

Babysitting Guide
Nesbitt Memorial Hospital’s Education Department
will sponsor a “Guide to Better Babysitting’ course
beginning on Wednesday, April 6.
The three-week course, is designed to provide informa-
tion and hands-on experience for the general care of
infants and young children.
The class will meet three successive Wednesdays from
4 to 5 p.m. in the classroom of the Nesbitt Medical Arts
Building.
Interested area teenagers, 12 years of age and older,
may register by contacting Mary Stoneham, R.N., at 288-
1411, Extension 4026, Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m.
to 4 p.m.
Plan Teen Talks
The Family Service Association of Wyoming Valley
and the Dallas School District are sponsoring a series of
programs for parents of teens. The program will be run
on four consecutive Wednesdays from 7-8:30 p.m.
starting April 6.
Topics for discussion will include understanding your
teen, opening communication, teenage sexuality, alcohol
and drugs and discipline.
The program will be held at the Dallas Junior High
School and enrollment is limited. If you'd like to attend,
call 675-5201.
Parenting Course
Parents with elementary school-aged children can
achieve a better understanding of their children’s highly
formative years through, ‘‘Parenting: Elementary
School-Aged Children,” a four session workshop spon-
sored by the Family Service Association of Wyoming
Valley and the Dallas School District.
The program will be run on four consecutive Wed-
nesdays at the Dallas Intermediate School from 7-8:30
p.m., beginning April 6.
L-L Band Concert
The Lake-Lehman Symphonic Band, directed by John
Miliauskas, will present its annual spring concert on
April 8 and 9 in the high school auditorium at 8 p.m.
A variety of music will be offered. Performances by
the band front will highlight several selections. Guest
appearances will be made by Kermit the Frog and Miss
Piggy.
The John Phillip Sousa Award will be presented by two
band members on Friday evening by James L. Nicholas,
principal. During the Saturday night performance, the
John Miliauskas Band Award will be presented by Mrs.
Marie Havrilla, president of the Lake-Lehman Band
Sponsors’ Association.
The Cadet Band directed by Jonathan Pineno will
precede the Symphonic Band on Saturday.
Tickets may be purchased from any band member or
at the door.

CIRCUS
Arthritis Course
Persons with arthritis interested in participating in a
self-help course in the Kingston area, sponsored by the
Arthritis Foundation, Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter,
should call Diane Pashinski at 735-5717 on Wednesdays
from 4 to 6 p.m. -
The six-week course will be held on Wednesdays, April
13 through May 18, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Leader Nur-
sing Home, Pierce Street, Kingston.
A $10. fee will be charged to cover cost of materials.

Fire Co. Dinner
The Fairmount Twp. Volunteer Fire Company will be
hold a spaghetti dinner on April 16, 1982 from 4 p.m. till 7
p.m.
The menu will include spaghetti with meatballs, salad,
bread, jello, coffee, tea and Kool Aid.
There will be a $3.50 donation for adults and for
children under 12, a $2. donation.
The Fire Company is located on Route 118, one half
mile east of Ricketts Glen State Park.
C.E. Alumni Dinner
The annual Luzerne County C.E. Alumni Fellowship
Dinner will be held on April 15 at East End Primitive
Methodist Church, Kidder and Laurel Sts. Wilkes-Barre
at 6:30 p.m.

Anti-Nuke Event
Prompted by the nuclear threat and their opposition to
the escalation of the arms race, an interfaith group is
planning a candlelight witness of scripture, meditation
and prayer to be held on Public Square in Wilkes-Barre.
“The Arms Race: An Interface Witness’ will be held
on Saturday, April 16 at 8:15 p.m.
Several downtown congregations will hold worship ser-
vices or discussions prior to the candlelight witness.
Following these services, individuals will procede to the
square silently for a short program of song, prayers,
petitions and statements presented by area religious
leaders focusing on peace.

Walk-a-thon Set
A Walk-A-Thon for Victims Right Week (April 17-24)
will be held on Sunday, April 17, sponsored by the Penn-
sylvania Coalition Against Rape.
The Walk-A-Thon will be a statewide effort to raise
funds for rape crisis centers, as well as to present a
united front for sexual assault victims.
The distance to be walked is 10 kilometers (approxi-
mately six miles), beginning at Public Square, at 9 a.m.
Volunteers are needed to assist at checkpoints, 2
registration tables and refreshment stands. Committee
members are needed for publicity, recruitment and
arrangement. Weekly meetings are being held every
Tuesday at 7 p.m. at VRC’s offices, 132 S. Franklin St.,
Wilkes-Barre.
