Swoyersville was shocked
by the sudden death of Bill
“Red” Curry of Owen St.
the pepper pot of the
Maltby Hose Company
and for many years a hrd
worker for the Hose
Company. Red passed
away in his sleep and he
and his humor will be
sadly missed by
everyone.

Luzerne Borough Police
Chief William Tregan
reported that citations
will be issued to motorists
traveling the wrong way
on Charles and Miller
Streets. The chief noted
that a few weeks ago, the
two thoroughfares were
made one way, but since
that time, violators only
were given warnings. ¢ -

their 37th wedding an-
niversary on Wednesday,
March 9. They were wed
in 1946 by the late Rev.

Ostroskie, former
resident of Swoyersville,
has retired. Trooper
Ostroskie is the son of
Mrs. Anna Barry
Ostroskie and the late
Michael Ostroskie of
Hughes Street, Swoyers-
ville.

Ostroskie spent two and a-
half years with the Army
Engineers in Germany,
Austria and Switzerland.
After being discharged

Mrs. Skiengel is the
former Beatrice Buzitski
of Swoyersville. Mr.
Skiengel is also a
Roland, and Gerald
from the army, he entered
the Pa. ‘State Police
Academy on June 16, 1949.
After graduation from
the Academy, his first
assignment was with
Troop “F’”’ at Milton. He
was later transferred to
Reading where he
patroled the Pennsyl-
vania Turnpike. His next
assignment was at
Emporium, - where he
stayed for 17. years.
Following this stay, he
was commissioned a
corporal and transferred
to Coudersport where he
served until his retire-
ment on Dec. 31, 1982.
While with the State

Police, Trooper Ostroskie
served in various
capacities including
criminal investigation
and ‘as supervisor at
Coudersport.
Ostroskie is married to
the former Margaret
Russell of Emporium.
They are the parents: of
two children, Michael,
with the U.S. Navy at
Lakehurst, N.J. and a
daughter, Mrs. Debbie
Caldwell, married to
Trooper Fred Caldwell of
the State Police, living in
Belefonte. Debbie is a.
graduate of the Airline
Flight Training School ogf
