Situated on the grounds of Newberry Estates, the Magee Publick House re- cently opened its restaurant to the public. A branch of the renown Hotel Magee in Blooms- burg, the Publick House strives to maintain the same fine standards. Dick Benefield, the “jolly fat man from Hotel Magee in TTT TT Bloomsburg,” who is often seen on television commercials, is vice president and managing director of Hotel Magee Inc. which operates the Publick House. Grant Kyler, general manager of Hotel Magee Inc. and Jim Purdum, manager of Hotel Magee Inc. are pre- sently dividing their time between Bloomsburg and Dallas helping the on premises staff train their employees. The Publick House is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday. Brunch is of- fered from 10 to 2 on Sundays while dinners are served from 2:15 to 8 p.m. Brunch: is already proving to be very popular. The brunch board includes soups du jour, freshly squeezed orange juice, homemade scones, biscuits, ham and cheese croissants, sticky buns. In addition, such delicious dishes as Coquilles St. Jacques, Eggs Benedict, Chicken Livers ‘“‘Bern’’, Crabmeat Nouvelle Orleans are featured on the bounteous brunch menu. The dinner menu specialties include fresh seafood, sliced filet, Veal Ala Suisse, Sole Sf. Germain. Included in the list of a la carte ap- petizers is Irish Smoked Salmon, Shrimp Tempura and Almond Crusted Chicken Fingers. Harry’s Barn- sider, a drink named for Harry L. Magee, is a house special. This fruit juice drink is made with a choice of liquor and is served in a Mason jar. ALMOND CRUSTED CHICKEN 1 boneless, skinless 3 c. blanched almonds: 1 can dark cherries pinch gr. clove pinch nutmeg 5 oz. cherry brandy BEER BATTER Kingsbury Photo) 8 oz. beer 3 whole eggs 7% oz. flour 2 oz. cornstarch Combine beer * with whole eggs and mix. Stir until smooth. Add flour and cornstarch and stir until smooth. Refrigerate until ready to use. CHERRY SAUCE Strain juice from cherries and place in a small sauce pot. Add 12 oz. cherry brandy, pinch of ground cloves, pinch of nutmeg. Bring to a boil and thicken lightly with cornstartch dissolved in TO PREPARE CHICKEN Cut chicken breast into 6 strips.
