1983-84 school year will be
conducted by telephone
March 14, through March
30.
Parents may register
children for kindergarten
for the 1983-84 school year
if the child is 5 years of
age on or before Sept. 30,
1983.
Registration for kinder-
garten will be completed
by having parents tele-
phone the school district

Children registered for
kindergarten will be
scheduled for screening at
a time and place to be
announced. The purpose
of the kindergarten
screening is to make the
child’s entrance and
transition to school life as
smooth and as expeditious
as possible.
These are the five areas
to be screened and those
in charge of each
screening: Visual
screening by team from
Wilkes-Barre Association
of the Blind; hearing
screening by speech
therapists of Luzerne
Intermediate Unit 183
educational evaluation b
Wyoming Valley West
school. psychologist,
elementary guidance
counselors, and reading
specialists; immunization
and health history by
Wyoming Valley West
school nurses; and gross
motor coordination
screening by physical
education teachers. At the
screening, registration
will be by the kinder-
garten teachers.
Parents are asked to
bring their children’s
birth certificates * and
immunization records at
the time of the scheduled
screenings.

short program to follow.
