Leading the Giants books still The last several hun- dred Centennial Books are being placed on sale at a reduced price of $2.50 by the Luzerne Centennial Committee to enable the committee to dispose of all books. The committee officials stated that when all of the books are gone, that will be made available at any price. The orange and black color of the book reflects the colors of Luzerne High School. An artist’s sketch of a coal miner and coal car adorns the front of the book. The souvenir book con- tains not only photo- graphs of the Centennial committee and officers but those of borough of- ficials and a memorial page to the late Officer Thomas ‘‘Vinny’’ Vinovrski. Reproductions of photo- graphs from the history of Luzerne, that can be available considered collector’s items, are to be found in the book. Listed in the book are the names of veterans of World War I who ap- peared on a town monument. Listed also are the names of the men and women who graduated from Luzerne High School listing them by their class. The old and the new history = of Luzerne Borough is traced in the book along with a com- pilation of the commer- cial and industrial firms that have helped the town grow. Outstanding sport stars from the borough are not overlooked in the Cen- tennial book in the form of photographs of Mickey Witek, George Sinzer, Rocky Castellani and the championship 1944 Luzerne High School Basketball team, led by the late Francis ‘‘Chink”’ Crossin. Pallante, academic dean of the college, that College Misericordia requires a semester grade point average of at least a 3. 55 to make the academic honor.
