BRUARY 2, 1983
Family Service Association of Wyoming Valley is
sponsoring a series of Family Life Education Programs
during the months of January and February. On Self
Growth is the third program nd will be held on four
consecutive Wednesdays from noon-1:30 p.m. beginning
Feb. 2 at the Family Service Association, 73 W. Union
Street, Wilkes-Barre. This program gives the individuals
a chance to discover and develop themselves. The group
will consider stress producing situations, relationships
these into means to foster self-growth. Eylse Gold,
ACSW, is group leader.
Blood collection
The Back Mountain Blood Council will observe its first
Dallas United Methodist Church, Dallas, between 11:15
a.m. and 5:45 p.m. The increasing demand for blood in
addition to the loss of donors due to age or illness, makes
it more imperative than ever that new donors turn out for
this important blood collection. It doesn’t take much time
to come out and donate. Come and bring a friend to help
in this vital life-saving contribution.
Bake sale
Jackson United Methodist church Women will hold a
bake sale, Feb. 5, 10 a.m. at K-Mart Hanover Mall.
Vets meet
Chapter 9, Disabled American Veterans, Wilkes-Barre
will hold its monthly meeting Monday, Feb. 7, 7:30 p.m. .
at the Scott Street VFW, Wilkes-Barre. If you can’t at-
tend the meeting, contact Commander Faber concerning
volunteer work for its membership drive for the Chapter.

Regular monthly meeting of the Lake-Lehman Board
of School Directors will be held Tuesday, Feb. 8, 8 p.m.,

Northeastern Pennsylvania League of Licensed Prac-

this area, ‘Nursing Excellence, the Heart of the Matter’’
is a two hour video tape discussion of empiracal data
pertaining to the 1985 proposal and affecting the high
percentage of nurses NOT represented by national
organizations. No reservations are necessary, refresh-
ments served. Everyone is invited. Donation is $5.00. For
Retired Senior Volunteer Program is conducting a
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program for senior
citizens filing Federal and State Income Tax Forms and
Property Rent Rebate Forms. This service is free to
senior citizens. For completion of Federal and State Inc-
ome Tax Forms, please bring a copy of last year’s com- §__
pleted income tax form. For Completion of Property @W
Rent Rebates, property owners must bring a copy of 1982
Property Tax receipt; tenants must bring a signed rent
receipt from their landlord. Assistance will be available
at the Dallas Senior Center, Mercy Center, College
Misericordia, Feb. 10 and March 31.
Showcase presentation
“Stop the World--I Want to Get Off” will be presented
by Showcase Theatre of Wilkes-Barre, Feb. 11, 12 and 13.
The musical, under the direction of Jane Tomassetti,
Trucksville, will open at the Dorothy Dickson Darte
Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are available by
writing Showcase Theatre, P.O. Box 1635, Kingston, or
Mrs. Charles F. Hensley, 146 Madison St., Wilkes-Barre.
Groups interested in attending may inquire through Mrs.
Edward Urbanski, 80 Third Ave., Kingston. Tickets will
also be available at the door of each evening’s per-
formance.
PEMA workshop
Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency will
conduct a one day Basic Workshop for borough, township fg}
and city emergency management coordinators,
Saturday, Feb. 12, at Arena Motor Inn, Wilkes-Barre.
The workshop will begin at 8:30 a.m. .and conclude at 4:30
pm. A lunch hour is scheduled, paid by PEMA.
Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. All municipal emer-
gency management coordinators and their assistants are
eligible to attend. To enroll, applicants should send a
letter to the Luzerne County Emergency Management
Agency Office, one week prior to the workshop with your
name, address and local EMA represented. Further
questions may be addressed to EMA by contacting
Walter Wint, executive director or James Siracuse,
operations and training officer.
Valentine dance
Dallas Kiwanis will hold its annual Valentine Dance,
Feb. 12 at Irem Temple Country Club. Guest reserva-
tions may be made through any Kiwanian or by con-
tacting chairman Bill Kalinowski at 675-3064.
Pancake supper
East Dallas United Methodist Church will hold their
annual pancake supper, 4-7 p.m., Feb. 26. It will be an all
you can eat with pancakes, sausage, eggs, dessert and
beverage. Tickets will be available at the door. {
Ice Capades
The British Club of Wyoming Valley is organizing a bus
trip to Hershey to see the Ice Capades ice show, Satur-
day, March 5. Tickets for the matinee are now available
