The Mountaineers jumped out to an early 22- 9 first quarter lead and continued to outscore the Comets to take a 52-26 lead into the lockerroom at halftime. Coach Ozgo emptied the bench to give all of his players an op- portunity to play as the Mountaineers continued to outscore Crestwood to take the final win. We did well rebounding and the kids played with intensity. The kids played them tough but they were bigger and we also were hurt physically. Tom Kukosky was hurt early in the first half and he will be out for the rest of the season. Chris Boyle is still out and so we're hurting physically.” Billy Bearde led the ‘Knights in scoring with 24 points, having a perfect 10-for-10 from the foul line. Scott Drugotch hit for 12 points, all of them from the field. It was the Grenadiers Larry Koretz who finished the Knights when he scored 10 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter. Seton Catholic nipped the Knights 40-39 in Wednesday night’s game at Lake-Lehman. The game was even through- out with Lake-Lehman in front 21-17 at the end of the first half. Paul Jones was high scorer for the Knights with 11 points. “The kids didn’t shoot well,” said Bearde. “The game was close all the way. Seton Catholic made a basket near the end of the game. Our kids had several chances to score but couldn’t put the ball in. Seton Catholic slowed down the tempo. But with only point difference, if = our kids could have run any hot streak they could have won.” In the West Side Tech game, Drugotch put in 20 points to led the Knights in their big win over the Titans. Bearde followed with 13 points. \ “It’s the best game our kids have played at West - Side Tech since I've been coaching,”’ said Coach Bearde. They went ahead by 18 points at the end of the first quarter and stayed relaxed through- out the game. Every boy on the team got a chance to play. It was different from when we usually play at Tech.
