deployment to Okinawa.
He is a member of 3rd
Battallion, 9th Marines,
3rd Marine Division,
Camp Pendleton, Calif.
The unit will spend six
months overseas as part
of the Marine Corps’ Unit
deployment program. The
concept is designed to
rotate whole battalions or
squadrons at a time in-
stead of individuals at
separate intervals.

Heart Fund campaign.
His appointment was
announced by Dr. Victor
Greco, Jr., Hazleton,
president of the American
Heart Association, North-
eastern Pennsylvania
Region.
He is an investment
broker with Kidder, Pea-
body & Company, Inc.
Garvey is married to
the former Nancy Regan,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
James Regan of Dallas.
They have three children,
Caitlin, Meighan and
Connor Patrick.
The February Heart
campaign will feature a
general public appeal,
residential, business gifts,
special gifts and events,
and memorial gifts.
Money realized from the
annual campaign is
utilized for heart re-
search, blood pressure
clinics, education,
heart and surgical
patients, and to aid in the
national fight against
heart disease, the leading
cause of death in
America.
Garvey has been active
with the Boy Scouts,
Junior = Achievement,
Alcohol Program, Back
and Alcohol Abuse, King’s
Century Club and Back
Mountain Jaycees.

burglary at the home of
Walter Griffity, 415
Highland Drive,
Trucksville. The incident
occurred at about 8 p.m.,
Wednesday, Dec. 29,
while the family was
away from the home.
Taken was a 19 inch RCA
colored television; a J.C.
Penney stereo with turn-
table, AM-FM receiver,
cassette recorder-player,
eight track player and
equalizer; $100 in cassette
tapes; and a strongbox
containing insurance
papers and savings bonds.

opposite direction. Both
operators swerved to
avoid a collision but

report a mishap at the
