President Nich Gushka thanked everyone for coming and for helping to make this past year just about the biggest that Swoyersville Little League ever had. They took their first district title. Manager. Tony Strish and his assistant, John Barbose, were praised for a job well done with this past year’s All Star team. Main speaker was John Kilduff, manager of the successful Andrew Law- rence American Legion Post 644 baseball team, which also took the district title and played in Fem losing. The surprise of the evening came when Salus presented a check for $4,700 to Gushka for use in the Litle League organization. The money was earned by the mothers at the refresh- bake sales. STEFANIDES, son of Richard J.M. and Lothaine Stefanides of Swoyersville, has com- pleted Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. During the six weeks at Lackland, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special training in human relations. In addition, he earned credits towards an associate degree in ap- plied science through the Community College of the Air Force. The airman will now begin on-the-job training in the transportation field Base, Texas.
