The Dallas School
District had been iden-
tified as a WAVEII school
district for the submission
of its Long Range Plan for
School Improvement in
January of 1981. The
administration, staff and
Citizen’s Advisory
Committee have been
working cooperatively to
formulate the process
that would enable the
On Oct. 8, with approval
of the Dallas School
Board, Dallas juniors will
be given the Armed Ser-
vices Vocational Aptitude
Battery (ASVAB). This
battery is being given
students as part of the
students’ career coun-
seling program. The
results of the test will be
used to give the students
on their
aptitude for certain job
areas. The ASVAB test is
a service given to school
districts free of cost by
the Armed Services.
Many high schools across
the country have en-
district to submit a viable
paln for improving the
educational program.
The members of the
Dallas School District
Citizen’s Advisory
Committee, under the
leadership of Dr, Andrew
Shaw, have been involved
in an intense evaluative
process for the past year.
The results of their efforts
are displayed in the
ance Information System.
All these sources will be
used to help the student
match interest and ap-
titude with current job
and job training informa-
tion. The program is de-
signed to give students as
much information as
possible to aid in their
career choices.

Administration Building.
Copies of the plan will also
be available in each
school building in the
Dallas School District. All
interested persons are
invited to review the Long
Range Plan for School
the locations.
_ Formal adoption of this
plan is scheduled for the
Oct. 11, 1982 Board
meeting. :
The public will have the
opportunity to comment
on the plan prior to its
approval.
Thirty-five new instru-
mentalist-band students
were registered in the
Dallas Junior High Band
as new members, joining
those previously part of
the curricular in-
strumental program.
Twelve members of the
Junior High Band,
primarily freshmen,
appear with the Dallas
Marching-Show Band.
The new Junior High
bandsmen include flutists
Chris Yezilski, Traci
Mazula, Gwynn Davies,
Debbie Davenport, Nicole
Nardone, Lori Niedz-
wecki; clarinetists
Tammy Adamchik, Kim
Metzger, Sharon Voitek,
Shelby Giarard, Carolyn

The Office of Continuing
Education at Luzerne
County Community
College will offer a 10
week ‘‘Weight Loss
Through Good Nutrition
and Behavior Modifica-
tion’’ seminar on Tuesday
evenings, from 7 to 9,
Dec. 14.
The seminar, which will
be held at the LCCC
Educational Conference
Center on the main
campus in Nanticoke, is
structured to incorporate
information on nutrition,
body composition and
physical activity.
