Br vp me - can boast a letter Sront Buckingham Palace, but Verna Sheehan of Dallas Michael C sey an Richard Williams. Michael Casey, John proudly shows hers to anyone who is interested. The letter is a gracious thank you for the Christmas stocking Verna knitted for baby Prince William. She sent the per- sonalized stocking upon the announcement of the baby’s birth but admits she really didn’t expect much of a response. In- stead she received a letter from Lady-in-Waiting Anne Beckworth-smith, thanking her on behalf of the Prince and Princess of Wales. Verna has a special love for the baby prince as her own heritage is Welsh. Her father, Nick, came to the United States from Bryn Mawr, Wales and she has relatives still lving there. She hopes to travel there someday to see her: father’s home- land. Her stocking story does not end with a letter from English royalty. The Christmas stocking is a favorite among her friends, and she has made many upon request. Verna entered one in the 1982 Fall Fair and came away with a blue ribbon. The award thrilled her as did her third place ribbon for knitted pot scrubbers. Verna, retired private duty nurse, says she has always enjoyed knitting and finds it a great hobby now that she has more time. She is. presently busy preparing handmade items for the Prince of Peace Church Craft Show on Nov. 3. Her holiday crafts include potholders season, = ice skate and roller skate, pins, caddies and warm, snuggly slippers. Once the show is over, she will return to work on the numerous’ orders she has for stockings, and other items. MARINE CPL. ROBERT J. MITCHELL, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert G.
