* imusual about the Easter Lily? Usually the lily blooms in
the spring around Easter. But last week Joe discovered
Zhe lily in his driveway and called it to this writer’s at-
\ “tention. It is a beautiful lily. Joe is a retired miner, where
i “he was one of the fortunate ones to escape the Knox
saster in the late 50's. Joe’s younger brother, Daniel,

victim of an eye injury
when he was hit by a

Company will hold their
annual Bazaar Friday,
Saturday and Sunday,
Aug. 6,7, 8 at their
grounds on Scott Street.
There will be nightly
entertainment provided
by Al and his Royal
Diamonds and Polka
Punch. Saturday, Aug. 7,
the annual firemen’s
parade will be held. It will
begin at 7 p.m. from the
firehouse on Scott Street
grounds and continue
throughout the Second
Ward.
There will be plenty of
ethnic foods and refresh-
ments and plenty of prizes
and surprises. The
firemen do a good job for
the community so let’s
help them so they can
continue to give us the
best of service.

Luzerne were saddened
this past week over the
sudden death of Tony
Zambito, Jackson St.,
Swoyersville. Tony
always had a smile on his
face and was good for a
joke which kept everyone
in stitches. He will be
sadly missed by his
family and neighbors and
many friends.

and Charles have a
restaurant known as Tony
Wyoming

Firemen will hold ‘their
Annual Bazaar at ‘their
grounds on Tener St. on
Thursday, Friday .and
Saturday, Aug. 12, 13,14.
Plenty of food and
refreshments plus rides,
prizes and surprises.
Entertainment will be
held every evening plus
the big fireman parade.
The Greater Wilkes-
Barre Family YMCA, a
United Way Agency has
announced the start of
their Resident Camp
Program.
The Resident Camp
opened Aug. 1 and will run
through Aug. 20. There
will be three one-week
sessions offered for boys
and girls ages 8-15.
In addition to the
regular camping
program, a specialized
sports camp will be of-
fered each week. A
wrestling program will be
offered from Aug. 1-6 Art.
Barney, YMCA physical
director directing the
Wrestling Camp. The
second week, Aug. 8-13, a
girls gymnastics camp
will be offered by Becky
Frisco, YMCA pre-school
and gymnastics in-
structor. The third week
Aug. 15-20 Ken Farshtey,
Wyoming = Seminary’s
soccer coach, will direct a
soccer camp.
All camping programs
will be held at Camp
Kresge. Camp Kresge is
an 1000 acre camp site
located in the Pocono
Mountains, owned and
operated by the Wilkes-
Barre Family YMCA.
This year there is a
limited amount of funding
available for low income
families who qualify. For
information on cam-
perships please call
