ministry. of the Dallas
Baptist Church at special
services on Sunday, July
18.
Mr. Doerfler serves as
youth teacher, bus out-
reach worker, sings in the
choir, and has been
helping in the -Dallas
Baptist Mission Church
located in Scranton. In
addition to the church
responsibilities, he is
active in the Harveys
Lake League Association
and other community
affairs. He is employed as
a teacher with the Dallas
School District.
He is married to
Maureen Riffle, who is the
Woman’s = Missionary
Director for the church.
They have three children,
Doug, Andy and Mike.
They reside at Harveys
Lake.

Brandeis University’s
31st Commencement held
recently on campus.
She is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Spar.
Ms Spar was one of 621
students who received
undergraduate = degrees
from Brandeis, which was
founded in 1948 as the
nation’s only Jewish-
sponsored, nonsectarian
liberal arts university.

Bethlehem Steel Corpora-
tion’s Philadelphia sales
district office was an-
nounced by William J.
Gesner, district manager
of sales.
O’Neill, who succeeds
Eileen M. Gaynor whose
retirement has been an-
nounced, is advancing
from chief sales assistant
at the - Philadelphia
district’s Lehigh Valley
sales office in Bethlehem.
Born in Kingston,
O’Neill served in the U.S.
Marine Corps from 1953 to
1956 and was stationed in
Japan with the rank of
sergeant. He joined
Bethlehem Steel in 1956 as
a clerk in the former
Wilkes-Barre sales office.

a Graduation Awards
Dinner held at College
Misericordia. Dr. Joseph
. R. Fink, president of the
local college, presented
Balshaw with a gift and
thanked him for his
sincere and dedicated
service to College Miseri-
cordia for the past 27
years of service to the
institution. Balshaw
announced his retirement
as of the end of the 1982
spring semester.

Balshaw, who was born
in England, graduated
from the Guilmant Organ
minor in voice. He did
post-graduate work
through 1932. He belongs
to the Fellow Americans
for Music and the Guild of
Organists in which he
received licensing in 1933.
Balshaw received the
W.C. Carl Gold Medal in
1932 and was selected for
Outstanding Educators of
America in 1973. He has
had two publications both
included in the Torch
magazine.
