25 YEARS-Daniel Meeker, center, Kunkle Motors, RD 1;
Dallas, recently received a Swedish crystal vase from
Robert J. Sinclair, president of Saab-Scania of America,
Inc, marking Meeker’s 25th anniversary as a Saab
dealer. At left is a 1957 Saab 93 sedan, type of car im-
ported into the U.S. when Meeker was appointed a
dealer. At right, the special 25th Anniversary Edition of
the Saab 900 Turbo, produced in limited quantity. Ralph
T. Millet, left, director of Saab-Scania and company
in 1947 with the English Austin, In the past he has been a
dealer for the MG, Morris, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar,
Volkeswagen and DKW. He also sold several electric
cars. Kunkle Motors is now a third generation business
with Meeker’s grandsons, Tim annul Gene, associated with
him in the business.

Field Service Students re-
cently presented a talent
show at St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church,
Shavertown, during a four
day Bus Stop in our area.
Students from Jordan,
The Jonathan R. Davis Vol. Fire
Company, Idetown, will hold its 17th
Annual Horse Show on Aug. 14 and
15. Starting time is 8:30 a.m. on
Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday. The
show will be held at the Lehman
Show Grounds, Route 118, 4 miles
west of Dallas.
This year’s show will be run in

FOOD FOR THOUGHT-Not on this occasion. It’s food to
satisfy the appetites of these youngsters at last week’s

Turkey, Ghana, South
Africa, England, West
Germany, Switzerland,
Portugal, Belgium, Italy,
Brazil, Finland, Greece
and the Netherlands pre-
sented a show filled with
laughs to a captivated
audience. During the
course of the show, the
third performed by this
AF'S group, students from
the Netherlands, Jordan
and Turkey explained
their native costumes.
Following the informal
program, a reception was
held in the church base-
ment for the students and
their host families.
This was the third bus
stop for these students
who had spent a year in
the Milwaukee, Wis. area.
Joan Mac, bus chaperon,
had been supervising the
students for two weeks as
they traveled to their New
York City destination
where each would leave
for his trip home.
American Field Service
is an exchange program
which was started follow-
ing World War II to enable
students to live in and
learn about other coun-
tries. All 37 AFS students
appeared to have enjoyed
their experiences. The
“AFS is the Best’ song
concluding the program
gave evidence of their
faith in the program.

Keeping Posted
Adoption support group
A meeting of the Adoption Support Group will be held
on Wednesday, July 21 at 7 p.m. at Pomeroy’s Com-
munity Room, 2nd floor, Wyoming Valley Mall, Wiliges-
Barre. This group is a self-help and support group=dr
present and prospective adoptive parents.
The meeting is open to the public. For further informa-

Veteran’s of Vietnam War
Veterans of the Vietnam War, Post 2, will meet
Thursday, July 22, at 8 p.m. at the Coral Lounge, 245
Owen Street, Swoyersville. All veterans are welcome.
Rummage sale
The Lake Silkworth Area Lioness Club will conduct a
‘Rummage Sale”, Saturday, July 24, between the hours
of 2-7 p.m. and on Sunday, July 25, between the hours of 8
a.m.-3 p.m., at the Pavilion of Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Church, Route 29, Lake Silkworth. Anyone wishing to
