PAGE SIXTEEN JACKSON TOWNSHIP Charges of hit and run were filed against an Edwardsville man last Thursday, June 24, in District Justice Leonard Harvey’s office. Norman George Pearce, Beech Street apartments, Edwardsville was arrested by Jackson Township Police Chief Donald Jones and Patrolman Bert Balliet following a general alarm search. Pearce is alleged to have been driving from Hillside Road through the five corner intersection when he struck a vehicle waiting at the stop sign. Louise Schwartz, RD 5, Briarcrest was operating the stopped car. After impact, Pearce left the scene and quickly became the subject of a search. Both Luzerne and Edwardsville police assisted. Pearce was in custody within 10 minutes of the general alarm. Neither Pearce nor the five passengers in his car occurred at 5 a.m. It was investigated by Jackson Township Police ' Chief, Donald Jones and Patrolman Andrew Kasko. -0- Francis James Scott, Kingston told police he fell asleep at the wheel early on Sunday morning, June 27, when his 1980 Datsun left Huntsville Road and hit several trees in front of the Rebennack residence. Scott was ville Road at 2:55 a.m. His vehicle crossed into the westerly lane and con- tinued onto the north berm hitting the trees. Scott was uninjured. Jackson Township Patrolman Bert Balliet investigated.DALLAS TOWNSHIP Dallas Township police arrested a Wilkes-Barre man early Saturday morning following a chase, on foot, in the vicinity of Route 415. Robert N. Montigney, 260 remains in Luzerne juveniles accompanying him. He and one of the juveniles fled after they were detained by Dallas Borough Patrolman John Fowler, Fowler stopped Mon- tigney for traffic viola- tions. He discovered the vehicle to be stolen during a registration check. He therefore charged Montigney with receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Following a crime check, Dallas Township Police Chief Carl Miers added the charge of fugitive from justice. Montigney, 26, was arraigned before District Justice Earl Gregory and lodged in the County jail in default of a total of $75,000 bail. -0- Dallas Township Police are looking for leads in the theft of a tractor trailor and its load of resin which was taken sometime before dawn on Saturday, June 26, from Company, Parksburg, Pa. The tractor and trailor, valued at $60,000 is owned by Landis Leasing Company, Wilmington, Dela. :0- A Dallas Township woman frightened off a would be burglar on Saturday when she en- tered her home and en- countered him in the kitchen. Jane Morris, RD 1, Dallas, arrived home at about 11:45 p.m., June 26, and met the suspect as she entered the door. He was described as a white male in his early 20s, 5’11” to 6’2’’ tall, 170 to 185 Ibs., with light brown hair and dressed in blue cover- alls. An initial search of the premises showed that nothing was taken, but it was apparent that he was in the process of ran- sacking drawers. DALLAS BOROUGH * Dallas Borough Police are investigating a burglary at the Robo Car Wash on Route 415. The incident occurred some- ) time pefore 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 24. It was discovered when the owner, Joseph Yenason, arrived to open for business. Yenason reported an undisclosed amount of cash taken from the cash drawer which had been stored in the office. Entry was made through the door of the office. -0- Dallas Borough Police Chief Ed Lyons investi- gated a one car mishap on Huntsville Road on Monday. Marie Weir, 15 Jackson St., Dallas was traveling west when she was forced off the road- GET ONE way by an oncoming vehicle; riding in the center. Weir’s 1978 Chevrolet coupe left ithe road and struck the guy wires of a telephone and power pole owned by UGI. The car then overturned. The incident occurred at 11 p.m. -0- A Trucksville woman is reported to have fallen asleep behind the wheel of her 1976 Chevrolet Coupe at 3 a.m. on Friday, June 25 and knocked over seven mailboxes on Chase Road in Jackson Township. Beth Ann Stofila, 185 Meadowcrest Drive, was traveling north in the area of Zimmerman’s Gas Station on Chase Road. Her vehicle left the road- way, destroyed the mail- boxes, crossed into the southbound lane, struck an embankment and came to rest on the west berm. Stofila was injured and was able to drive her car from the scene. Patrolman Andrew Kasko investigated. -0- A Ford pickup truck came to rest in the creek off Hillside Road early Saturday - morning, and two youths were treated at Nesbitt Hospital as a result. Jeffrey Lake, RD 1, Hunlock Creek was traveling west on Hillside when he ran off the road, struck several trees and rolled over into the creek. Lake was transported to the hospital by Jackson Township ambulance. A passenger in the truck, Barry Cornell of Lehman was taken for treatment by his father. The incident bf Dr. Robert Shandrick . He also was awarded an eight week fellowship by the St. George Oral Cancer Society for study with Dr. Robert Harwick, head and neck surgeon at Temple University. While at Temple, Shandrick was elected to the Stomatognathic Honor Society, the Oral Surgery Honor Society, and the Periodontal Honor Society. He was a member of the American Society of Dentistry for Children and St. George’s Oral Can- cer Society. Dr. Shandrick served a nine week clinical rotation at Suburban General Hospital, Norristown and was on rotation at St. Christopher's Hospital and Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. Dr. Shandrick is a member of the Pennsylvania Dental Society and the Scranton Dental Society, .
