w of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital is planning its annual card party, to be held Monday, April 26, 1 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, South Franklin Street, Wilkes- Barre. In addition to the card party, the Auxiliary will Shortcake doll with a $100 bill and a full sized, hand- made quilt. Baked goods, jewelry, plants and books will also be sold. Auxiliary members are pledge drive to defray the cost of the $685,000 linear accelerator which was Starlight Ball and the card party are the two major fundraising events held to help defray the cost of the pledge and other Auxiliary-sponsored programs. Admission and raffle tickets are available from any Auxiliary member Kathy Oravitz, newly- Dallas Junior Woman’s Club, has been an active member for the past 12 years. “I believe I have served on every committee in the club,” said Mrs. Oravitz. “Up With People, Chef Tell, the fudge booth at the library - auction, membership--I have been active in all of them. Ticket holders can be eligible to take home a cuddly, stuffed animal which will serve as one of the mascots for the affair. We have several moneymaking projects during the year but these are decided at the budget meeting which will be in the next week or two. She has also been involved with Cub Scouts and since all of the Oravitz children are in- volved in softball, soccer or Teeners baseball, she is always ‘on the run”. Last year, the Oravitz family joined the YMCA and spend a great deal of time taking their children for swimming lessons or playing racquet ball. Kathy also enrolled in an aerobics class.
