will perform the
Orchestra Trio in C Major
by J. Stamitz, “Suite” for
Strings by Scarlatti,
‘‘Crisantemi’’ by Puccini,
‘‘Hueya’’ by Alberto
Williams and the Violin
Concerto in D Major by
Paganini.
_ Okumura was born in
Tokyo where she began an
early musical career
performing and
demonstrating for
students: throughout
Japan. As a Fullbright
Scholar she studied in the
United States making her
debut at the Gardner
Museum in Boston. -
As a student ‘at ‘the
Manhattan School of
Music, Kineko was
selected on three oc-
casions to perform with
the Manhattan Orchestra.
After winning a prize at
the Paganini Inter-
national Competition she
traveled in Italy ap-
pearing with the Sienna
Chamber Orchestra. Also
in Italy Okumura was
selected from the Master
Class of Franco Gulli to:
perform at ‘the Grand
Concert of the Academia
Chigiana. Her’s was the
only performance which
was reviewed. The Sienna
News said, ‘...she has
confirmed brilliantly her
natural artistic virtuosity;
La Campanella was
unusually satisfying,
spontaneous and very
coherent musically.
Kineko Okumura is ‘a
graduate’ of the Julliard
School where she studied
with: Oscar Shumsky.
Currently she is a
member of the Y
Chamber Symphony and
Gramercy String Quartet.
Last summer the quartet
was featured at the
Virginia Festival for the
performing arts: Miss
Okumura also appeared
as soloist with the festival
orchestra.

Two members of
Centermoreland = Boy
Scout Troop 336 have
completed qualification
for Eagle Scout awards
and will be presented
their Eagle pins at formal
ceremonies to’ be held
later in the Fall. They are
Robert Faux and Richard
Morgan.
Supervisors of Franklin
Township will meet
Monday evening at 8 in
the basement of the
Orange United Methodist
Church. Among the items
on the agenda will be the
opening of bids for a used
tractor-grader for the
township road depart-
ment,
Cub Pack 336 of Cen-
termoreland has been
reorganized and will meet
Monday evening at 7:30 in
Centermoreland United
Methodist Church social
rooms. Russell Dymond
is the new cubmaster.
About a score of area
residents were among the
more than 320 persons,

honoring Rev. Father
Thomas Croghan, pastor
of Sacred Heart R.C.
Church, Plains, on the
35th” anniversary of his
ordination into the Roman
Catholic priesthood. Rev.
Father Croghan served as
pastor of St. Frances X.
Gabrini R.C. Church in
Carverton and its’ sister
parish, Blessed
Sacrament R.C. Church in
Centermoreland, before
his transfer to the Plains
Church. Among area
residents attending were

Leonard and Alice
Krispin of Krispin Road,
Carverton. Mrs. John
Kundrat, grandmother of

her daughter, Debbie
Kundrat, spent a month in
Houston, and returned
over the week end.
Grandfather Kundrat
journeyed to Houston last
week and accompanied
Mrs. Kundrat home.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Sands, who own and
operate Sandsdale Farm
in Carverton, are showing
a dozen of their prize
Holstein cattle and the
Bloomsburg Fair, which
is being held this week.
The couple, over the
years, have won many
blue ribbon awards in
addition to winning the
coveted ‘Premeier
Breeder and Exhibitor’
award. This week the
Sands’ have entries in the
Junior, Intermediate and
Senior heifer calf classes;
senior yearling heifer and
a nine-month old bull calf.
