PAGE SIX THE DALLAS POST, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 1981 BY JOAN KINGSBURY Despite the fact that all good cooks have their favorite recipes, once in a while trying a new recipe is a treat. Mary Ann Thompson offers Post readers three unusual, tempting recipes to try: Impossible Cheeseburger Pie, Broccoli and Cauliflower Bake and Pecan Crunch Cookies. ~ Impossible Cheeseb- urger Pie is a nice, hot meal, perfect for a brisk fall evening. The preparation of this recipe is unique since the crust is not rolled out. Eggs, milk and Bisquick baking mix Z, are combined, then poured over a mixture of hamburger and chopped onion. After baking for 25 minutes, (the crust forms as the pie bakes), Impossible Cheeseburger Pie is topped with sliced tomatoes, then sprinkled with shredded cheese before returning to the oven for a few more minutes. Allow Impossible Cheeseburger about 5 minutes before serving. Mary Ann’s Broccoli and Cauliflower Bake is an unusual combination of vegetables, cheese and filo dough. Cooked broccoli and cauliflower are nestled between filo leavés. Swiss cheese, parmesan cheese, oregano and sliced tomatoes add to the flavor of this fantastic vegetable dish. Mary Ann’s Pecan Crunch Cookies have a special ingredient, potato chips. Crushed potato chips and chopped pecans or walnuts are in- corporated into the cookie dough before baking, giving the cookies a nice, crunchy texture. Cooking is an activity Mary Ann enjoys when she has time to prepare her favorite recipes. Cooking is definitely a main part of Mary Ann’s day since she is employed in the caféteria at Gate of Heaven School. Mary Ann, her husband, (Don, and their three children are residents of Fieldcrest. The couple are both Back Mountain natives, Mary Ann is originally from the Apple- wood Manor area while Don lived in Noxen. Kelly, the Thompson’s oldest member of the girl's hockey team. Donnie, a fifth grader at Gate of Heaven School, is a sports lover, being both a basketball and baseball team member. Donnie is also a Cub Scout. Denise, a fourth grader at Gate of Heaven School is a Junior Girl Scout and also a mini- football cheerleader. Both Mary Ann and Don are active in Scouting; Mary Ann is serving as assistant Girl Scout. leader this year while Don is Cub Master of the Gate of Heaven group. The Thompsons are members of Gate of Heaven Church. In leisure time Mary Ann enjoys crocheting, doing crewel and em- broidery. Her newest project is the construction of a braided rug. Don, a truck driver for Acme warehouse, restores cars in his spare time. Camping is the Thompson’s favorite family activity. They re- cently returned from an eight-day trip to the Cape Cod area where they visited such interesting flower and the pilgrim homes. The highlight of their visit to Mystic, Conn. was the Maritime Museum. A stop overnight in New York’s Hudson Valley provided the perfect ending to a marvelous vacation. If you've been thinking about giving yourself a home perm, there's something you should know. The reason perms curl your hair is because they literally rearrange B the molecules within the hairshaft permanently. Whether you end up with soft waves or frizz depends on how, and how much those molecules are rearranged. At our salon, our stylists are trained in the chemistry of permanent waving. They don’t take it lightly. Before each perm, you can ask them to analyze your hair to be Reserved Seats in Grandstand $5.00 - Reserved Seats on Track $6.00 Except Fri. - Friday Reserved Seats Grandstand $7.00 - Track $8.00 All Track Seats for Wednesday Night are Sold Out Sololeiotolotokodolol STAKE HARNESS RACING Mon. 12 noon — Tues., Wed., Thurs. 1 P.M.
