Clarke Lewis ran his

the team to a 1-0 victory

CLIPBOARD NOTES:
Sickers that hasn’t a
ready been said? It’s
obvious they can’t win the
big one. I read and listen
all year what exceptional
personnel and coaching
they have, yet they can’t
win the big one. When the
going gets’ tough the
Sickers can’t cut it. No
way should they have lost
on Sunday--no way. Celts
are my team, but they
weren't in it ‘until the
Sickers left ‘em off the
hook in the final five
minutes. My assessment
is: they talk too much
to do before they do it. 1
don’t think they have the
riiigrhr title ’'a'm
chemistry...What a class
team the Edmonton
Oilers are. After getting
KO’d by the classy
Islanders they showed me
a lot by skating to bench
to shake hands...Islanders
were supposed to have
been lucky last year in the
Stanley Cup, so siad the
Flyers’ fans and media.
So where are the Flyers
this year? Golfing with
the Sickers. The Islanders
are a splendid and highly
skilled team, but I don’t
believe they can be com-
pared to Canadiens...
Many thanks to Tem-
ple’s Frank Massino and
Rutgers’ Bill Speranza for
helping me with’ my
‘Suspects & Prospects”
list for next grid season. It
appears the East will
have more skilled folks
around this coming year
than big linemen like 1981
crop...Size, speed and
strength are the three
most ~ significant © at-
tributes scouts look for in
a grid prospect.
Academics are important
too.

Tip of the hat to’ the
Lake-Lehman track team
on winning the A-A title
with a 6-0 mark. Coach Ed
Narkiewicz really
brought the program
along since it was started
in 1970. Leading the team
were John Wendel, Mark
Boyle, Mike Wendel, Dan
Haefele, Don Benza, Rich
Cundiff, Mark Mar-
chakitus, Tom Sayre and
Tom Kurkosky. That's a
pretty heady group.

the recent NFL draft I'm

It appears the Black
Knights will compete’ in
the Wyoming Valley Golf
League this fall. Board
approval was expected
this week and Mike
Sharok is the right guy to

Meanwhile, one of the
biggest turnarounds for
the Lake-Lehman
championship roundball
team was the overall
team-play of Dave
Penkrot. Several reliable
followers told me he did a
lot of maturing in the
course of a season and
thus became a more com-
plete performer.

time the people from

they went out of their way

of the reasons the W-B

in attending the press
