PAUL TWU The Dallas Women of Kiwanis will hold their 1981 Installation of Officers, Wednesday, Jan. 28, 6:30 p.m. at Irem Temple Country Club. This year will mark their 34th year of service to the community as an auxiliary of the Dallas Men of Kiwanis. The Women of Kiwanis organized March 4, 1947 with the purpose of promoting acquaintance, advance understanding good will and fellowship among its members, united in the Kiwanis ideals of service, and to tivities throughout the community. The club participates in many services to the community such as: providing © Thanksgiving baskets including turkey and trimmings to many families, judging the Halloween Parade sponsored by the men’s club, manages the Odds and Ends booth for the Back Mountain Library Auction, which raised over $1,000 in 1980, provides workers for the Fall Fair, has representation on the Drug and Alcohol Com- mittee, Fall Fair Board, Library Board and an- swers service calls from the community whenever possible. ‘The club has also participated in Meals on Wheels, Blood Pressure Screenings and numerous other wor- thwhile services in the past. The 1981 slate of officers being installed are corresponding secretary, Mrs. Robert Lawhorn; recording secretary, Mrs. Leonard Harvey; treasurer, Mrs. Reese Pelton; 2nd vice president, Mrs. Sherry Noulton; 1st / vice president, Mrs. John Luke; and president, Mrs. Larry and Nancy Crispell or RD 1 Noxen, will celebrate their 25th anniversary on Jan. 21. In honor of this occasion their family and friends are holding an open house at Mr. and Mrs. Larry Crispell’s home, Satur- Frederick W. Anderson. Kenneth B. Kozel has been appointed vice president, finance; of Metropolitan Wire Cor- poration, Wilkes-Barre, according to an an- nouncement by Richard Maslow, president. Kozel joined Metro in August, 1973 as assistant controller. He was promoted to controller in 1975 and to treasurer in 1979. Prior to associating with Metropolitan Wire, he was employed by the public accounting firm of Ernst & Whitney in Buffalo, N.Y. He is also a member of the Wilkes- Barre Kiwanis Club. ** A hearing for a Harveys Lake junkyard owner on charges of violating, the borough’s zoning laws will be held Monday before District Leonard Harvey, Dallas. Scheduled for the hearing at 2 p.m. is Anthony Toluba = of Nanticoke, owner of a property along Rte. 415. He was served with a warrant by the magistrate following a non-response to a sum- mons, according to Harvey’s office. Appearing before the magistrate last week, Toluba posted $500 bail. An icy road brought about an accident in Jackson Twp. over the weekend, police report. Police said that John Adams, Box 124, Sweet Valley, was driving west along LR 40058 early Sunday evening when his car skidded on the icy roadway, the rear end sliding into the ap- proaching lane where it was struck. Driver of the other car was identified as John Puterbaugh, 219 Duffy’s Lane, Plymouth. No injuries were reported. Investigating was Chief Donald Jones.
