Dallas Fire auxiliary reports The Dallas Fire and week thanked all those who contributed baked goods on Election Day. It is also that time of the year for the Christmas can- dles. The Auxiliary will be selling candles in the area again this year. Widows Club to meetin Trucksuville The Back Mt. Widows Club will meet Nov. 17 at 12:30." p.m." in: the Trucksville Methodist Educational Building on Church Road. Mrs. Louise James will have charge of the meeting. A program has been planned. Mrs. Frances Perrego and her group will have charge of the luncheon. Any widow from the Back Mt. area or West Side is invited to meet afternoon of fellowship and entertainment. : The Sweet Valley Volunteer Fire Company this week thanked those who responded to their annual contribution drive. To date, about one half of the letters sent out have been returned. The letters who benefit from the services of the fire company. ‘Each home protected is asked for a donation of ten dollars, or whatever one wishes to give. In discussing this year’s donation letter, Fire Chief Robert Walsh extended. his thanks to those who have par- ticipated to date. He also noted that in order for the company to continue to operate effectively, they needed to hear from those CPR class Dr. Nicholas Ruggiero, president of the American Heart Association, Northeastern Pennsyl- vania chapter, announced a CPR Heart Saver class will be held Tuesday, Nov. 27 at night from 7 to 10 at Gate of Heaven Church in Dallas. A fee of $2 helps to cover the cost of course materials. Chief Walsh also noted that many new residents in the greater Sweet Valley area are not on the fire company’s mailing list. Chief Walsh cited that ‘the company is strictly volunteer and that the men respond every hour of the day, no matter what the weather conditions. The fire = company responds willingly, he said, and appreciates willing gifts. All local come from many various walks of life. Several of the men are in business for themselves. Others are in professional ser- vice. Many retired ‘men are also active, and still others work for the commercial and in- dustrial concerns in the area. The Luzerne County court, acting in conjunction with the office of District Attorney Chester Muroski, named Gregory on Tuesday to hear the charges against James Daubert, Alfred Koziel, Timothy Noon, and James Derhammer. The four have had numerous criminal charges lodged against them separately and jointly in connection with incidents in Dallass Township, Harveys Lake, Kingsston Borough, and Newport Township this fall. No date had yet been set for their hearing as of Tuesday. ee * Escapes injury A motorist who told police he was forced off the road escaped injury last Saturday evening in an accident along Lower Demunds Road. Benjamin Kasmerk, 40, of RD 3, Box 146, Dallas, told police he was driving north along Lower Demunds Road when a vehicle tried to pass him and suddenly swerved back in front of him to avoid an oncoming car in the other lane, forcing him off the road to the right. The Kasmerk vehicle traveled over a ditch, through some bushes, and into a tree. Neither of the two other vehicles stopped, the driver said. Investigating is Ptlm. A hearing has been scheduled for next Wednesday before District Magistrate Earl Gregory, Shavertown, for a Wilkes-Barre man on charges of driving under the influence, underage drinking, and hit and run. Set for the hearing is Roger Grencavage, 20, of 47 Chestnut St.; city, who was stopped by Kingston Twp. police early Sunday morning some distance away from an accident on Route 309. Mary Trevethan, 52, of 55 Shagbark Drive, Shaver- town, told police that shortly after midnight on Sunday morning she was driving north along 309 when a vehicle struck hers in frying to pass on the right just north of South Main St. Acting on information supplied by witnesses, the police stopped the Grencavage vehicle two miles away, with the Wilkes-Barre man reportedly confirming to police his role in the accident. Vandals hit Water Co. Vandals smashed the window in the office of the Dallas Water Co., Main St., Dallas Borough, sometime early Sunday morning police report.
