At Monday night's
Lehman
Township Supervisors
heard a proposal from
Robert Evans of Penn-
dot concerning winter
road maintenance on
state roads in the town-
ship.
Under a new program
PennDOT is proposing
that Lehman Township
maintain = Legislative
Routes 40060, 40066, and
40134 during the winter
with the state reim-
bursing the township for
this work.
Reimbursement for
these roads, covering
approximately 13 miles,
would be about $9,000
according to Evans.
The board tabled this
suggestion for con-
sideration.
The board entered into
an agreement with the
Fall Fair and the Lake-
Lehman School District to
provide police protection
at public events. Under
this agreement social
security, liability in-
surance and workman’s
compensation for police
officers is provided under
township insurance. The
Fall Fair and the school
district are then billed by
the township for the in-
surance costs.
Arsonists to be sentenced
Ss
Sentencing is scheduled today for seven Back Moun-
tain men, including three charged in connection with the
fire that destroyed the old Lake Elementary School in
y February.
Six pleaded guilty in June to various charges stem-
i ming from a crime and arson spree throughout the Back
3 Mountain during the winter. They were examined by
ii mental health authorities as part of the pre-sentencing
i investigation.
Charged with the arson were James Daubert of Church
St., Dallas, and Willard Cilvik, RD 4, Dallas. A third
man, Keith Kosak of 47 Parrish St., Dallas, was charged
with having driven the car for the other two during the
arson.
Daubert also pleaded guilty to having set the fire that
destroyed the home of William and Rita Gunster, Har-
veys Lake, the same evening.
Pleading guilty only to charges involving various
breakins and thefts were William Duda, John Burke, and
Andrew Chewey.
To be sentenced also will be John Daubert in con-
nection with similar charges.
Charges for James M olecavage were reduced when he
provided police with information leading to the ap-

The attorney for a
Dallas woman fighting
the construction of a new
commercial property
next to her home is
hopeful that the matter
can be settled before
court action becomes
absolutely necessary.
Atty. Frank Townend,
representing Anna
Kingston, said this week
that ‘‘We hope the matter
will be settled before
going to trial.”
In an action filed at the
Luzerne County Cour-
thouse last week, Mrs.
Kingston claims that the
raised parking lot in front
of the new professional
office building next to her
on Tarleton Ave. has
blocked her from Route
309 and has caused water
to flow onto her land.
The property of one of
the businesses in the
adjacent Dallas Shopping
Center blocks her
property from 309 in the
other direction.
Defendants in the suit
filed by Mrs. Kingston are
Drs. William E. Watkins
and Leonard Medura,
trading as W & M Realty
Co.
Atty. Townend said that
‘‘a great many
discussions’’ have been
held and that he hopes to
reach some agreement
short of actually requiring
the removal of the
parking lot.
The lawsuit asks that
Tarleton Ave. and
Sumpter St. be restored to
what they were and
proper drainage be
provided.
The parking lot is
the Kingston property and
is connected with that
property by a 10-foot-wide
ramp. Mrs. Kingston has
contended that the ramp
is difficult to use, that the
parking lot cuts off part of
Tarleton Ave., and that it
is very difficult to get to
Sumpter St., which
connects the lot with 309.
She has also claimed
that water runs off the
parking lot into her yard,
creating muddy con-
ditions.
