The ceremonies marked the 25th anniversary of the year in which associate degree programs were first offered at The Wilkes- Barre Campus of The Pennsylvania State University. In addition to 73 students who were awarded associate degrees diplomas on Saturday, another 120 the first two years of their studies at Penn State- Wilkes-Barre and will continue on for four-year bachelor degrees. Most of those students will now transfer to Penn State- University Park. Academic awards recognizing the student with the highest cumulative average in each associate degree Saturday’s ceremonies. An academic award was presented to Michael J. Sudimak in Mechanical Engineering Technology. Five students received recognition for their in- duction into Tau Alpha Pi, the National Honor Society of Engineering Technologies. They were Carl J. Meurell, Michael J. Sudimak, Guy J. Shovlin, Lon G. Singer, and Daniel DeCecco. The principal address was delivered by Frederick J. Hartwigsen, manager of consumer relations for the UGI Corporation, the Luzerne Electric Division.
