Silver Leaf Club to serve election day The Kunkle Silver Leaf Club met Feb. 15, at 2 p.m. at the ‘home of Mrs. Elizabeth Hess on behalf of Mrs. Ruby Miers. "President, Mrs. Edith Costanzo, presided at the business meeting and Mrs. Ella Brace was in charge of the devotions. The group voted to serve refreshments at the Kunkle Fire Hall on election day in May. There will be no meeting in March and arrangements were made to have the Easter Party at the Pink Apple in Tunkhannock at noon on Tuesday, April 19. Mrs. Naomi Ashburner will be the hostess in May. Davis showed slides and spoke on the different exhibits available for the children. A very in- formative question and answer period followed. The museum is open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The next meeting will be a plant and craft auction on March 14 at the U.G.IL Building in Kingston. The fifth annual St. Patrick’s Dance of Gate of Heaven Church will be held Saturday, March 12, at the school auditorium, Machell Ave., Dallas. Mr. and Mrs. J. Teen board holds coffee house on drugs The Malabar Teen Board recently held a coffee house at the Kingston Recreation Center. Performers were Frank Kardisco, Alice Breziaski, Diane Schroeders, Ed Pane, Marion Turner, Nancy Turner, Bette Turner, and Harmony, a group whose members include Joe Arnone, Butch Fasciana, Paul Picccillo and Tony Reggie. The sound system for the coffee house was donated by the Harmony Band. Light refreshments were made and served by Teen Board members Terry Cavanaugh, Janet Hutchins, Nora Lee, Sandy Mrochko, Debbie Niedzwiecki and Anne Slabinski. ‘ The Malabar Teen Board was organized to develop self-awareness, provide education, and develop alternatives to using alcohol or drugs. The Teen Board is a part of the Malabar prevention program, and is made up of high school aged students from Luzerne and Wyoming Counties. Koach, executive director, American Cancer Society and Patrick J. Lenahan, president, showed a film on the im- portance of an annual physical examination in early diagnosis and trea- tment of cancer. Mrs. George A. Edger- ton, speaker on educating the young in cancer pre- vention, noted that cancer has no age limit and early detection and treatment can make one a ‘“‘winner”’ over the deadly disease. Miss Hope 1977, Sharon group and discussed her role in the Cancer Crusade and expressed her dream of making victory over Cancer a reality. Janette Grieves announced that regular meetings on. the last Monday of each month will be held at the borough building for all those in- volved in this activity. The Widows Club met Feb. 19, 1 p.m., in the educational building of the Trucksville United Methodist Church. Rev. Lee R. Brehm presented a film “The Other Disciple”. Mrs. Emily Davenport was in charge of the games.
