A candlelight ceremony
of new members was
presented at the annual
membership dinner
meeting of the Harveys
Lake Women’s Service
Club at the Pinebrook Inn.
Mrs. John Barbose,
membership chairman,
assisted by Mrs. Robert
McNeil initiated the
following members: Mrs.
William Davis, Mrs.
Paulette Sturgis, Mrs.
Edwin Burnell, Mrs.
Richard Titus, Mrs. Joseph
Martin, Mrs. William
Megargel, Mrs. Michael
Sullivan, Mrs. Grace
Keiper, Absent were Mrs.
Patrick Hogan and Mrs.
Edward Stratford.
President Mrs. Carl
Swanson, conducted the
business meeting. She
thanked Mrs. S. Richard
Strazdus, dinner meeting
chairman, and her com-
mittee Mrs. Howard Grey,
Mrs. Melvin Gongdon and
Mrs. Vivian Rinken for the
lovely arrangements.
Finance chairman, Mrs.
J." Elliot Ide, urged the
members to support all
club projects. The next
bodice above a circular
skirt and was
complimented with a
matching capelette jacket
edged in french stitching.
Her headpiece was a
matching juliet cap. She
carried a long stemmed
white rose tipped in blue
with streamers.
Dwight Barbacci,
brother of the groom was
best man. Jack Barbacci,
brother of the groom, and
Jack Mokychic, cousin of
the bride, served as ushers.
An afternoon reception
was held at the Idetown
being a theatre party on
Dec. 3 at the Little Theatre,
Wilkes-Barre. Tickets for
“No No Nanette” are still
available from chairman,
Mrs. John Hudak.
Mrs. T. Newell Wood,
Jr., arts chairman, an-
nounced the club craft
contest will be held in
February and all members
are urged to participate.
It was announced by
gerontology chairman,
Mrs. Esther Grey, that
Mrs. Albert Armitage,
Mrs. Ann Crake and Mrs.
James Garey have been
added to the Honorary
Membership.
Mrs. Marguerite Cauda,
second vice president,
reported three folding
walkers been donated to
the club’s service equip-
ment by the Harveys Lake
Lions Club.
Reports on the Northeast
District meeting were
given by Mrs. Jeanne
Jones and Mrs. J. Elliot
Ide. Mrs. Esther Grey and
Mrs. S. Richard Strazdus
gave their reports on the
Luzerne County meeting.
The president, Mrs. Carl
Fire Hall after which the
couple left on a wedding
trip to New York and
Hawaii. The couple will
reside in Noxen.
The bride was feted at a
variety shower at the
Castle Inn, Dallas, given by
Sally Sperl, maid of honor

Elizabeth Cyphers, aunt of
the bride and Betty
Mokychic, cousin of the

class on cardiac-
pulmonary-resuscitation
instructed by Mrs. Keith
Swanson will be formed for
club members, family and
friends.
The Christmas basket
chairman Mrs. Keith
Swanson, requested three
dozen cookies per member
be brought to the
December club meeting or
deliverea to a ‘‘cookie
station’ by Dec. 14.
Cookies will be packed
Dec. 15 and baskets will be
assembled Dec. 18 at the
Lutheran Church, Sandy
Bottom.
Anyone willing to deliver
baskets should contact
Mrs. John Barbose or Mrs.
Melvin Congdon, driver
chairmen. Many volun-
teers are needed for this
service project.
The president stated that
the annual Christmas tree
decorating contest spon-
sored for Luzerne County
will be held at the Carriage
House. The club’s
Christmas party and
meeting will be held Dec. 2
at the Lake Elementary
School. Gifts will be ex-
changed.

Moyer who entertained
with several musical
selections accompanying
herself on the guitar.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Dreher
Mr. and Mrs. Max
Dreher, 147 Park Street,
Dallas, will observe their
50th wedding anniversary,
Thursday, Nov. 18.
They were married at St.
Nicholas Church, Wilkes-
Barre, by the Rev. Frank

to the Fall Fair
Association. Chris Bach-
man noted that Gourmet
Club Ticket Books are still
available. These benefit
the Back Mountain Council
on Drug and Alcohol
Abuse.
A Thanksgiving bake
sale will be held at the
Holiday Market, Dallas on
Wednesday, Nov. 24 from 1
to 6 p.m. Pumpkin pies and
other traditional
Thanksgiving baked goods
will be available.
Rose Schmid and
Carolyn Bulford are co-
chairmen. Proceeds are
used for Jay-c-ette com-
munity and club projects.
Christmas cards will be
sent by members of the
club to guests of local rest
and convalescent homes
who are not remembered
at Christmas.
The December meeting
will be a Christmas
evening with the Dallas
Women’s Club Choral
presenting a program of
song. The evening will
begin at 7:30 in the
auditorium of College
Misercordia. Refresh-
ments will be served.
Members may bring
guests.

in Dallas for the past 34
years. Mr. Dreher retired
in 1965 from his position of
machinist at Hess Gold-
smith, where he worked for
37 years.
The couple are the
parents of two sons, Max,
Campbell, N.Y.; ‘and
Herbert, Dallas. They also
have two grandsons and
two granddaughters.
They will be honored at a
dinner for family and close
friends, Nov. 20, at the
Castle Inn, Dallas.
