Miliauskas has been band director at Lake Leh- man High School for the last 24 years. Under his leadership and direction, the band has received national recognition and won over 100 awards which include first place trophies in each of the following catagories: concert, marching, field, twirling, color guard, and drum major. They have participated in the Eagles vs. Browns opener in Philadelphia, the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington ''D.C., the National Apple Blossom Festival in Winchester, Va., the Blossom Festival and the Miss U.S.A. Parade in Niagara Falls, the Ken- tucky Derby Festival in Louisville, Ky. and for many years have par- ticipated in the Pagaent of Bands at Sherbourne, N.Y. Among the many distinctions’ which Miliauskas and his band havereceived are two from the government of Penn- sylvania. They received a proclamation from the state Senate and were honored by former Governor William Scranton. NAME ADDRESS PHONE The Dallas Woman’s Club celebrated their 44th anniversary with a buffet dinner at the Irem Temple Country Club on Wednesday, Nov. 10. General chairman of the affair was Mrs. Clyde Brace, assisted by Mrs. Clyde Taylor. Table decorations were of a Thanksgiving motif and created by Mrs. Larry Cowett. Past presidents at the head table were introduced by Mrs. Brace. They were Mrs. Fred Eck, Mrs. Robert Parker, Mrs. Arthur Culver, Mrs. Ralph Dixon, Mrs. Larry Cowett and Mrs. L.E. Jordan. Also at the head table were Mrs. John Davis, president of the Luzerne County’ Federation of Woman’s Clubs and Mrs. William Coburn, president of. the Dallas Club. Mrs. Davis extended congratulations to the members on their years of service to the community. Mrs. Coburn thanked the committee for their efforts in arranging the affair and made several pertinent announcements to be remembered. A wine tasting party will be held at the American Legion home in Dallas on Thursday, Jan. 27, 1977 at 8 p.m. Mrs. George Decker has been anmed chairman. Judging of crafts at the club level will be on Feb. 9 at the international dinner. Winners will go on to the Hotel Sterling for arts and crafts contest on March 12. A salad luncheon will be held at noon on March 30. Mrs. Donald Kohler is chairman. Mrs. Taylor introduced Maureen O’Donnell of Harvey's Lake, who was a student of Irish dances in Dublin, Ireland, and is now O’Donnell of Philadelphia, originally from Ireland. Maureen introduced her Ceili dancers as they performed the Irish reel, the Irish jig and many other varied Irish dances. The young people have been in competition in Washington, D.C. Connecticut, New York and Philadelphia, and have won 23 maedals for their performances. Dallas Rotarians are scheduled to hear Susan Zearing, associate drug and alcohol specialist for the Luzerne and Wyoming County mental health unit, during their regular meeting Thursday night. Ms. Zearing, a former director of a ‘crisis in- tervention center, is a graduate of State University of New York at Cortland and holds a masters degree from St. Her topic will be ‘‘Substance Abuse in Luzerne County.” Last week Rotarians heard a presentation by Anna Cervinek of Forty- Fort, a public relations speaker for Bell Telephone Labs.
