made sports news this
week by placing first in
their respective con-
ferences.
Joe Majewski, class of
’75, ‘leading runner on
Luzerne County Com-
munity College cross
country team, has been

Harris Associates to taking
three from Irene’s Bar.
Daring’s Market picked up
three points from George’s
Auto led by T. Heness’ 211.
A. Ciccarelli hit the pins for
212-214 (587) and N.
Stredny tumbled them for
229 (586) to aid Dallas Nur-
sery in a two-two split.
In the Ladies Country
League, Daring’s Market
shut out Fashion Vending
helped by F. Allabaugh’s
182 and J. Garrahan’s 176
an even split with Grotto
Pizza. A. Hospodar
walloped the pins for 178
(489) to pace G.H. Harris in
blanking David ertley
girls.
Shut out was the name of
the game for four teams in
. the Back Mountain Church
League with Dallas A
taking Orange A, Dallas B
taking all from Shavertown
B, Trucksville B tapping
Trucksville C, and Carver-
ton B blanking Maple
Grove. Taking three points
from their’ opponents were
Shavertown A from Car-
verton A, Shavertown C
from Orange B and East
Dallas from the Lutherans.

J. Swingle found the
strike range for 223-210
(601) to head Treat Drive
In in taking three from

blazed the lanes for 225
(623) and teammate C.
Molley rolled a big 233 to
lead Roth Novelty in a four
point win from Disque
Funeral Home. Castle Inn
dropped three points to
Tooties Place.
In the Bowlerette
League, Checkerboard Inn
shut out a weak Duke Isaac
Team. F. Dierolf rolled a
big 194 (495) and Toots
Langdon gave 176 (483). E.
Saraka hit 175 for the losing
five. John Connolly and
Tom Reese divided evenly
with L. Cyphers rolling a
nice 178.
Jon’s Boys picked up
three from Jon’s Girls in
the Lakers League.
Kocher’'s Boys earned
three from Kocher’s Girls
and Bar A men took three
from Bar A girls, taking
total by 10 pins. Dividing
evenly were Steg Lads and
Eddie’s Girls, Steg Lassies
and Bill's Girls, Eddie’s
Boys and Bill's Cafe. C.
Kozokas rolled a big 224.
In the Imperialette
League, Goodman Florest
blanked Fairview Shoe
Store. Atlas Food shut out
Ralph Fitch & Sons. Lom-
bardo Bakery picked up
three points from Pesa-
creta’s, and Carmen Pizza
divided with Dallas Dairy.
High scorers were R.
Radzinski 172, M. Ritts 176,
M. Fondo 180 (486).
In the Sunday night
Mixed League, six nights of
bowling finds Roth in first
with 14-10; Michael tied
with the same record;
Shaver five are in third
place with 12-12, Aicher 11-
13, Ratcliffe and Duncan
1012-135.
High games among the
women are M. Duncan 177,
A. Jordan and Carol Honko
172, Morag Michael and
Nancy Kozemchak 170.
High for the men are E.
Ratcliffe and E. Roth 212,
H. Shaver 204, F. Kwasnik
three are M. Duncan 504,

505. The Duncans hold high
averages, Dave 162, and
Mary 154.
The Tar Buggies con-
tinued their winning ways
in the American Asphalt
Mixed League by taking
the first place Blacktop
Boozers to the cleaners
and defeating them 3 out of
4 points. This puts the Tar
Buggies within reach for
first place honors only 3
games behind the Boozers.
Julie Conologue of the
Boozers surprised the
league by scoring the new
high single of 215, Julie also
had high series of the night
for the Boozers with 498.
Next was Walt Meade 485,
and Ed Conologue 484.
For the Tar Buggies it
was Don Violini 457, Tony
Honko 450.
The Gutter Gang ganged
up on the Pickled Pavers
and took all 4 points. There
by putting the Pavers in
last place.
High for the Gutter Gang
was Kevin Hooper with 484.
For the Pickled Pavers it
was Dan McDaniels with
468 and Gil Berlew with a
421.

Lake-Lehman Ladies
pushed their hockey record
to 6 wins at the expense of
an inexperienced Wyoming
Area team on Friday, Oct.
22. :
Although the Knights
controlled the ball in
Warrior territory, they
were unable to score until
mid-way in the first half.
Dawn Cummens began the
string of five goals for the
Knights while Sherry
Naugle, Sue Dockeray and
Mary Sue Rish were
instrumental in holding
Wyoming Area scoreless.
Additional Lake-Lehman
goals came off the sticks of
Tracy Garinger with three
and Debbie Barto with one.
Lake-Lehman is vieing
for top position with
Wyoming Seminary and
share similar records.
The final games of the
season will be the deciding
games. Lake-Lehman
meets Wyoming Valley
West Wednesday, Oct. 27;
Meyers, Friday, Oct. 30;
and Wyoming Seminary,
Tuesday, Nov. 2.
named number one in the
Eastern Pennsylvania
Dallas cross country
runners ended the 1976 sea-
son with 24-33 win over
GAR, and a 9-2 overall
record.
In the GAR meet, the
Grenadiers John Green
placed first in 17:16. Scott
taineer Steve Jones copped
fourth with 18:08. Fifth
with a time of 19:20.

Lake-Lehman’s hockey
team continued its winning
streak by defeating Bishop
O’Reilly 4-0 on Tuesday,
Oct. 19.
The first goal came
early for the Knights when
inner Dawn Cummens
pushed the ball in for the
score. The Knights defense
out-manuevered O’Reilly
so that they maintained
control of the ball.
Speedy Sue Dockeray,
Lake-Lehman’s co-captain,
outran O'Reilly offense to
keep the ball in the striking
circle until co-captain,
Tracy Garinger, drove
from the top of the circle to
score. The score was then
2-0.
Lake-Lehman’s defense
stayed tight preventing
O’Reilly’s threat to goalie,
Wendy Garinger. Lake-
Lehman’s third goal came
when wing, Debbie Barto,
drove from the flank to put
the ball in the cage.
Lake-Lehman’s
offense was still not
finished. Tracy ,Garinger
put the final goal in the
cage on a sweep making
the final score 4-0.
The Lady Knights
coached by Jane Morris,
now boast a 5-1 record.

Athletic Conference, it was
announced by Dacia Jones,
LCCC.
Majewski led the field
across the finish line of the
Williamsport Community
College 4.8 mile course in
26:06 to earn the title, while
his team finished fourth in
Fiorini, Dallas, 19:57;
Mike Brostosky, GAR,
20:17; Gene Boris, GAR
21:06; Dave Lipo, Dallas
21:23.
The runners go into the
Districts this Friday at
Emanon Golf Course. The
girls will run at 3:30,
Division AA boys at 4 p.m. ;
and Division AAA will
begin at 4:30 p.m.
Coach Lew Isaacs said
he is looking for freshman
and sophomores to come
out for cross country since
most of those now running
are seniors, who will grad-
uate in June.
Dallas
golfers win
2, lose 1
Dallas High School
last three matches, defeat-
ing Wyoming Valley West
and Bishop O'Reilly but
losing to Wyoming Area.
In last Friday’s match
Mountaineers lost 12% to
81. High spot of the match
for the Mountaineers was
Brigg of the Warriors. Cor-
holes.
Jeff McDonald won 2% to
% while Greg Stone split
1%-1%. Mike Muldoon lost
as did Coyle Smith and
Scott Carter.
In last Thursday’s match
with Bishop O’Reilly, the
Mounts won 15% to 5%.
Mike Muldoon was
medalist and Corbett came
in second.
In their match with
Valley West, Coach
Charles Preece’s Mounts
won 17-4. Corbett was
medalist and Muldoon and
Stone won.
This Sunday marks the
playoff match of the All
Stars including 10 best
expenses.

finish with Jim Robold of
Montgomery Community
College and Ron Rudy of
Bucks Community College
close at Majewski’s heels.
Majewski’s only loss this
season was to Rudy in dual
meet competition.
The winning the tour-
nament at Williamsport,
Majewski set a new course
record, his fifth this year.
Other records were set at
Penn State’s Scranton and
Schuylkill campuses,
Montgomery Community
College and LCCC’s home
course.
LCCC’s Chris Scott was
awarded an individual
trophy for finishing 11th in
the conference. This was
Scott’s first year at
Community College.
Majewski is a son of Mr.
and Mrs. Lawrence
Majewski, Trucksville.
While at Dallas Senior
High School he ran cross
country and track. He is
currently enrolled as a
sophomore at Community
College. = He played
basketball with the
Minuteman last year until

Harry Vroomen, 1976
graduate of Dallas Senior
High School, placed first
in Penn State’s Northeast
Regional Commonwealth
Campuses ~ Conference,
Oct. 23, at University Park.
Vroomen placed first out
of 40 runners from nine
campuses, setting a new
record of 22:44 over the 4.25
mile course. The old record
was 23:13. = iF
Vroomen was a member
of the high school team
during his junior and
senior years and wound up
his “senior year with a
record of 7-2, leading his
team to second place in
Division AA of the
Wyoming Valley. Con-
ference. 3 5
He is a student at Penn
State’s Wilkes-Barre
Campus where his cross
country record this year is
4-1-1, his only loss being to
Majewski.
Vroomen is the son of
Mr. ‘and Mrs. Hubert
Vroomen, Dallas. He plans
to transfer to the univer-
sity’s main campus next
year where he will continue
his cross country running.
