Bee pollen
boosts
performances
Olympic athletes have
found a honey of a way to
improve their per-
formances--by taking bee
pollen pills, reports The
National Enquirer.
“They're fantastic!”
exclaimed crack American
sprinter Steve Riddick,
who won a gold medal as a
member of the relay team
during the Montreal
games. “It gives me a lot
more energy, and my
recovery power after a
hard sprint has improved
at least 75 percent.

but this is far better. I take

unofficial world’s record
for the 100 meter dash at a
meet in Switzerland last
year.
Reports Tom McNab,
who trained all of Britain’s
track and field athletes for
the Olympics:
“At least 90 percent of
our athletes are taking bee
pollen tablets daily. Most
claim that it improves
their performance, and
gives them greater
stamina and more
energy.”
The Finnish Sporting
Assn. supplies tablets to its
nation’s top competitiors--
some of whom brought
their pills to the Montreal
games.
Track coach Antti
Lananaki told The
ENQUIRER, ‘‘Most of our
athletes take the bee pollen
food supplement. Our
studies show that it
significantly improves
their pérformance. There
have been no negative
results since we began
supplying bee pollen to our
athletes.”
British food scientist Neil
Lyall developed the sup-
plement. He traveled to
remote parts of the world--
where people live to be as
old as 140--to discover the
secret of their longevity.
After 14 years of
research, he pinpointed the
factor as the pollen taken
from plants by bees and
left on the floor of their
hives. The natives eat this
residue--which has proven
to be richer than pollen
collected by hand.
When = analyzed, the
pollen was found to contain
“no fewer than 14 essential
vitamins and 11 minerals,”
according to Lyall. The
pollen was then packaged
in Britain as a pill--and it’s
now available in most
health food stores in this
country.

Trout fishermen are
being reminded by the
| Pennsylvania Fish
Commission that the daily
creel limit during the
extended season is three
trout (combined species)
in all approved trout
waters. The extended, or
fall, trout season runs until
midnight, Oct. 31. The
minimum size limit on
trout during this special
season remains unchanged
at six inches.
Fish Commission of-
ficials also remind trout
fishermen that the ex-
tended season does not
apply to tributary streams
or headwaters, including
streams which contain
native trout populations
but are not stocked by the
Commission. A list of the
approved trout waters can
be found in the summary
booklet issued to each
licensed angler.
