The Dallas Recreation
Center opened Monday,
June 14, under the direc-
tion of Shirley Breymeier.
aThe center which,
‘Weated on the corner of
Burndale Road = and
Luzerne Ave., provides
programs for both young
and old until the end of
August. It is open from 9
through Saturday.

Reservations for tennis
courts will be taken
Monday through Friday
from noon to 8 p.m.
Tennis lessons ' for
women will be held
Monday and Thursdays
beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Children’s lessons will be
‘Tuesday and Wednesdays
at 9:30 a.m. Registration
for tennis lessons will be
taken until Wednesday,
June 23. Lessons will begin
June 28. Everyone taking
lessons must have their
own rackets. Balls will be
provided by the center.
Arts and Crafts for
children will be held

Mondays at 9:30 a.m. and
Thursdays at 1 p.m. Crafts
for teens will be Wed-
nesdays at 3:30 p.m.
A basketball league will
be run at the center for
men. Games will be played
Sundays and Thursdays at
A co-ed volleyball league
will also be formed. games
will be played Tuesdays at
6 p.m. Registration for
both basketball . and
volleyball will be held until
June 23.
Basketball instruction
and games for younger
boys and girls will be held
Wednesday at 1 p.m. Baton
twirling instruction will
also be given at this same
time.
oo ollege Misericordia has
been named one of two
colleges in the entire state
that will conduct special
cheerleading camps this
summer under the
direction of the Pepster
Cheerleader
Conference. k
The ASCC has selected
College Misericordia to
host a five day, four night
camp from July 12 through
July 16 that will be
available to all area
cheerleaders. The ASCC
will send in trained
specialists to conduct the
camp as the college
provides room and board.
Squads attending may earn
trophies and daily spirit
stars will be awarded to
squads showing the most
enthusiasm. On the final
evening, there will be a
giant pep rally.
Areas covered in the
camp are new cheer
techniques, super soul
chants, stompers, pompom
=utines, pep rally plan-
® fund-raising, tum-
b partner stunts,
gymnastics, uniform
design, and many more.

Grade school
Young basketball en-
thusiasts will have an
opportunity to meet and
work with outstanding area
coaches at the annual
grade school basketball
clinic to be held at Camp
St. Andrew, Tunkhannock,
during the week of July 4.
The clinic is opened to boys
in the 3rd to 6th grades.
The clinic, first in a
series of summer sports
clinics at the Tunkhannock
camp,+ will be under the
direction of Jack Farrell,
head coach of the Scranton
Preparatory School,
“Cavaliers.” /

the Lehman Volunteer Fire
Company, will be held on
July 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.
Mixed classes of English
and Western competition
will be featured, with
special bicentennial
costume classes.
Pony classes, races and
youth equitation are some
of the events planned
especially for the younger
generation of horsemen.
The show parade with
this year’s theme of
*U.S.A.-200 years’, will
start the weekend
festivities. Starting at 6:30
p.m. Friday, July 2nd, the
parade will take its course
from Lehman Center down
Route 118 to the show
grounds.
Floats, the 1976 Queen
Contestants, marching
units, various types of fire
apparatus, as well as the
award winning Lake Leh-
man Band under the
direction of John
Miliauskas, will be in
review. i
Trophies will be awarded
for: the newest fire ap-
paratus, the oldest fire
apparatus, fire company
traveling the farthest
distance; largest marching
unit in: uniform, best
decorated Float (1st, 2nd,
3rd place awards), best
decorated horse and rider,
best decorated bicycle.
Youth classes will follow
the parade. A favorite of
many, these events give
the youth an opportunity to
show their skills. ;

money for new equipment
and activities by spon-
soring a car wash. The car
wash will be held at
Wesley’s Citgo Station,
Memorial Highway,
Dallas, Sat., July 10 from
10 a.m. to-3 p.m. Children
will be selling tickets
throughout the Baek
Mountain for the next few
weeks. Donation is one
dollar.
A miniature golf trip will
be held Friday, June 25." !

meet at the center at 1 p.m.
with their money and a
signed permission slip. All
children going on the trip

54 classes that will be held.
Joseph Vanorio, of
Pound Ridge N.Y. will
judge this year’s com-
petition. Ringmaster will
be John Hudak, of Lehman.
Refreshments will be
plentiful. Games of skill for
the young, and the young at
heart will be - at hand.
Children under 12 will be
admitted free when in the
company of an adult.
Proceeds help to support
the Lehman Volunteer Fire
