Mrs. T.M.B. Hicks has
set the Ham ’'n Yeggers off
and running again!
Mrs. W.G. Moss, whose
late husband started the
club with Mrs. Hicks many
years ago reports that the
first 1976 Ham ‘n Yeggs
check received in support
of the Back Mountain
Memorial Library Auction
is that of Mrs. Hicks and
her daughter, Barbara
Harding. ;
Although, Mrs. Hicks
editor emeritus of the
Dallas Post, no longer
resides in Dallas she
remains a supporter of the
library and is the first each
year to apply for Ham ‘n
Yeggs membership.
The Ham ‘n Yeggs Club
is a- unique method of
supporting and defraying
the expenses of the annual
library auction which will
be held July 9-11.
Mrs. Moss notes that
letters ‘concerning the
membership drive will be
sent out shortly.
The Northwestern

Hess is a past president
of the Wyoming Valley
Live Underwriters. He re-
ceived’ his Chartered Life
Underwriter designation
from the American College
of Life Underwriters in
1957 and taught CLU
classes at Penn State
University for 11 years.
He is currently vice
chairman of the Dallas
School District Authority.
He is a member of the offi-
cial board of Orange
United Methodist Church
and .of the Wyoming
Conference United
Methodist Board of Pen-
sions.
He has been treasurer of
the Wilkes-Barre Rotary
for the past 10 years.
Born in Forty Fort, Pa.,
in 1912, Hess received his
elementary education in a
one-room schoolhouse in
Franklin Township,
Dallas. He graduated from
Kingston (Pa.) High School
in 1931 and attended the
Wharton School of the
University of Pennsyl-
vania. ;
His wife Dorothy is
secretary of the Church of
Christ Uniting, Kingston.
They have five children
and 13 grandchildren.
Plants will play an im-
portant role at the 30th
annual Back Mountain
Memorial Library Auction,
July 9 through July 11.
Mrs. Lee Eckert, chair-
man, has selected aspara-
gus ferns, artillery ferns,
Swedish ivy, spider plants
and a wide variety of hang-
ing baskets to be on dis-
play. There will also be
perennials, marigolds,
geraniums and flats of
garden flowers.
Solicitation of plants
from area residents for the
booth is presently under-
way. House plants, African
violets, or any type of
greenery to enhance the
plant booth is requested.
Arrangements for pick-up
can be made by calling the
library.
Area professional green-
houses will again contri-
bute many of the plants
being featured.
Lovers of exotic herbs,
colorful flowers, and
healthy house plants will
find them at the plant and
produce booth at the 1976
Auction American for the
benefit of the - Back
Mountain Library.
On June 19 there will be
an arts, crafts, antiques
and hobby show held at the
Franklin Township fire
hall sponsored by the
Bicentennial committee.
Persons who wish to dis-
play items are asked to call

anything to donate from
knic-knacs to dishes,
jewelry, individual items,

or leave their donations at
Andrew Roan’s
Distributing Business on
Memorial Highway.
Mrs. Leo Nauroth is co-
chairman of the booth
which raises in excess of
$1,000 each year to swell
the library auction fund.
Mrs. George
McCutcheon will be in
charge of pricing the
articles.
Women of the club will
man the booth.
