# 1 SRE A concert will be presented by the Dallas Senior High School Band this Friday, March 19, at 8 p.m. in the senior high school auditorium. A varied program of music from classical to modern “pop” will be presented. Included in the program school band, the stage band, the ‘Dixie Dudes’, a percussion ensemble, majorette routines and the fifth and sixth grade school band. Organ interludes during changing of these groups will be played by Barbara ‘Voelker and Nancy Law. Selections included in the program are: ‘Nutcracker Suite’’, ‘‘MacArthur Park,” ‘‘Tiger Rag’, “Birth of the Blues”, and “Liberty Bell March”. The grade school band consists of approximately 100 students from fifth and sixth grades who will be playing their first concert. The group will feature a trumpet quartet of Kerrie Lehon, Stewart Pierson, Eric Rosne, John Ash and accompanied at the piano by Daryl Dymond. The entire program is under the direction of Lester R. Lewis, band director of the senior high school. ®irwo groups of Dallas _majorettes will perform in the spring band concert which will be held on Friday evening, March 19 at 8 p.m. in the Dallas Senior High School Auditorium. Twirling to ‘Colonel Bogey March’ will be Head Majorette Dana Ziegler, Cathy Barry, Colleen Gries, Marie Gomba, Dawn Davenport, and Kathi Bonawitz. Included in the group to perform to ‘The Liberty Bell March’’ are Ruth Brace, Marti Spears, Lynn Wolfe, Lisa Williams, and Cindy Asby. On March 6, members of the squad captured second place out of seven units competing in the Second Annual Bishop Hoban Marching Festival. This group ‘included Head Majorette Dana Ziegler, Cathy Barry, Lynn Wolfe, Colleen Gries, Lisa Williams, Marie Gomba, Allison Davis, Kathi Bonawitz, and Dawn Davenport. The majorettes are coached by Kathleen Kemmerer. Proceeds from the $25 per person or $50 per couple evening will be directed to the $12,000 pur- chase of a liquid gas chromotagraph for Wilkes- Barre General Hospital, a machine which will pro- vide blood serum analysis needed in the treatment of epileptics and narcotics patients. Gourmet chairman for the Rotary Club is Paul Priebe and tickets for the event are available through either him, Coscia, John Barney or any other Dallas Rotarian. A maximum of 200 persons will be served at the affair. Dallas Rotarians have also announced plans to celebrate the club’s 49th anniversary during their regular meeting night, March 25. The Tag Masters, a barbershop quartet, will be featured at the event and the Rotary- Anns, wives of the club- members, will join in the celebration. During the past week- end, the club sponsored two fundraisers, a turkey dinner for 800 persons at Dallas High School and play performance at Wilkes College. Proceeds from the two events and the upcoming dinner all go to the chromotagraph. Connor, president of the Dallas club, invited public Eight Back Mountain residents, all College Misericordia alumnae, have lent their support to the college’s Alumni Association Annual Giving Campaign, by agreeing to act as drive leaders. According to Mrs. Janet Wills, director of alumni affairs at Misericordia, the local residents have assumed the responsibility of carrying. the campaign to their respective classmates. Involed are Mrs. Willard Garey of Lehman, coor- Puessica Thomas of Noxen, class agent; and team leaders Mrs. John Barney, Mrs. John Tribler, Miss Kathleen Syack and Mrs. John Maniskas of Dallas; Miss Regina Ference of Harvey’s Lake; and Mrs. James Borton of Shavertown. The annual drive began officially on Feb. 1 with a mailing by the college to some 5,200 Misericordia graduates throughout the country. That mailing is currently being followed up by classmate contacts being conducted by the volunteers. A phonathon is tentatively scheduled to complete the drive later this spring. Early returns in the campaign were un- precedented in number, according to Mrs. Wills, who indicated the alumni have contributed over $22,000 during the current fiscal year. Monies donated by the alumni are used to augment the annual giving fund or the college library fund, as designated by the donor.
