RY Ee local On Feb. 23rd and 27, juding for the Woody Owl poster contest sponsored by the Dallas Junior Women’s Club took place. The posters depicted Woody zowl and his plight to “Give a Hoot Dont Pollute” the environment and children were to use their talents and imaginations freely. All the third grades from Dallas School System participated with the help of the Art Teachers Miss Karen Casper and Mrs. Jane Cornell. The winners are: from Trucksville- Leslie Billman; Westmoreland- Mrs. Coseys Class Cheryl Gavigan; Mrs. Nom’s Members of the Dallas Junior Women’s Club are busy planning for their tenth annual Easter Egg Hunt. The event is April 10, in the Dallas Junior High School gymnasium from 1 to 3 p.m. The hunt is for children from the back mountain between the ages of three and eight. “Mr. ‘Bunny’ and his clown friend will be on hand to greet the children. Refreshments will be served and prizes awar- ded. Fliers explaining the details of the event will be distributed to all elementary and nursery schools in the Back Mountain area. Mrs. James Horn, chairman of the event will be assisted by Mrs. William Mannix. Committee members are: Mrs. Arno Miller, flyer- s;Mrs. Allan Grice, Cub. Pack 241 held its annual Blue and Gold ‘Banquet on Feb. 27, at the Lehman Elementary School. The theme was a Bicentennial one and was carried out through the table decorations and flowers. Frank Patts, toast- master, had the Webelos open the meeting with the presentation of the colors. The Rev. Robert Harris, pastor of the Lehman United Methodist Church, gave the invocation. After dinner, Patts introuced the speakers table: Rev. Harris, Robert Schooley, guest speaker from the Boy Scout Council and Mrs. Schooley, John Corvett, committe chairman, and Carl Remley, Sec. of Pack 241 Schooley spoke to the cubs on the importance of scouting as a family and showed the boys slides of his trip through Yellowstone Park by back packing. After the slides Mr. Patts presented the awards.
