While everyone was
politicing for their favorite
candidate, poor Tom Smith
was ribbed for the outfit he
wore on election day.
As Marie Ritts said.
“Anyone who wears brown
and white check jacket,
brown tie, brown shoes and
‘green’ pants desires to be
teased.” To top off the day.
Tom's wife Irene, unknow-
ingly came down to vote
and added her comments. 1
doubt very much if Tom
will show next election day.
Congratulations to Lynn
Ritts for placing first in the
fifth grade level of the Bell
Telephone Pioncer Art
contest.

“You honestly want to
know what happened be-
tween me and my hus-
band’s standard shift
car?” Last week my old
but beautiful car took a fit
and into the repair shop it
went. So there I was with a
cute little kiddy car parked
in the drive way and me
swearing I'll never drive it.
After one day of staying
home, my husband asked if
I would give it another
chance and try driving it.
(Every marriage should go
through this.)
That night I drove up and
down Oak Hill streets.
Drove isn't the word. It
was like a rodeo with me
hanging on for dear life.
Must have done okay be-
cause Vin said ‘‘Take it to-
morrow and relax’’. Took it
out by myself and was very
happy when I pulled up in
the driveway and not a
junk vard.
That night T told my hus-
band one of the things that
hothers me is when another
car is behind me. The next
morning. full of enthus-
You won't believe this...a
patrol car comes up behind
me and starts flashing his
lights. T paid no attention
because 1 wasn’t doing
anythingwrong. Then he
sounds his siren, I still kept
bouncing along. Finally he
pulls along side and signals
me to pull over. At this
point T was so excited. I
was stepping on the clutch.
gas pedal. brake. pushing
all the buttons and blowing
the horn.
The officer informed me
that the sign in the rear of
my car. that warned neigh-
boring vehicles, was block-
ing my license plates. (I
didn’t even know there was
a sign because my hus-
band. Mr. Subaru. never
told me.)
After putting myself to-
gother, T stepped out and
read. ‘New Driver - stay at
least 50 feet hehind. This
car rolls back on hills!
Laugh - it works. cars
come up behind. read the
sign and then back up.
Word of caution - stay far
behind the white car in
front of you. vou never
know when the driver is
me!

The Energy Committee
of the Greater Wilkes-
Barre Chamber of
Commerce has expressed
concern regarding some
energy-saving devices and
gimmicks that have been
put on the market in this
area.
The committee suggests
that homeowners be very
cautious about purchasing
any electrical-saving
device which the salesman
claims can be installed on
the homeowner's electrical
lines which will cut overall
power consumption.
