=m asa os A full program of summer activity for boys and girls of the Cen- termoreland-Orange- Carverton and Noxen area is now underway. Younger boys from 8 to 12 are involved in major, minor and farm team Little League activity underway for several weeks. There also are two girls’ softball teams from the areas playing in the Back Mountain Girls’ Leagues. Latest effort to provide a fullggounded program of sum®ier activity is the organization of the Orange Firemen's Boys Softball program for older boys. Teams from Orange, Carverton, Cen- termoreland, Demunds the league and all games are played on the Orange Firemen’s diamond - exc- ept the home games for the Noxen team, which will be played at Noxen. In the opening games, Sunday, Orange defeated Demunds and Cen- termoreland won on a forfeit over Carverton. Sunday’s games will send Demunds against Car- verton at 3 and Noxen will be guests of Orange at 6. Only games scheduled for next week will be played Wednesday evening when Centermoreland will travel Dallas to Noxen and Carverton will be guests of Orange. Beaumont continues to rule Beaumont remained unbeaten and ruled the second week of second half play in the Robert Horlacher Memorial Little League with a clean slate of four wins. Beaumont also won first half honors in a playoff following a three team tie at the end of regular first half play. Orange-Centermoreland Yankees got back into the column after successive defeats at the hands of Beaumont and the O-C Phillies by beating Jim Barbacci’s Noxen nine, 11 to 10. Mike Kravitsky was credited with the win in relief of Bill Dewey, while Jim Barbacci was charged with the loss. Ron Swingle started on the mound for Noxen. Scouten with a homer and single and two runs scored was the batting star for Noxen. Jim Daubert with two hits in three trips; Paul Brace with two hits in four trips and four runs scored; triple in three trips and three RBI's, and Bill Dewey with three hits in four trips and three RBI's were the batting stars for the Yankees. Dewey scored the win- ning run. He drew a walk, stole second and third base, and scored on Jim Daubert’s single. The Shavertown Mets and the Lehman Braves played to a 20-20 eight inning tie. The game will be resumed in the top of the ninth inning. Other Division II action, Lehman Reds (4-1) nipped Trucksville Dodgers (3-3) by a 6-4 margin: Dallas Cubs (4-2) edged . Shavertown Mets (1-3) 6-5; Dallas Cardinals (4-1) squeezed past Lehman Braves (1-4) by a 7-4 score; Shavertown Pirates (4-1) belted Trucksville Giants (2-2) 21-3. Reds, Pirates, and Cardinals remain in a three-way tie for first place with the Cubs just a half- game back. In Division I -action, Shavertown Red Sox (5-0) blanked Dallas Royals (2- 3) 3-0 in a close game; Dallas Orioles (4-1) beat Lehman Indians ((0-6) 13- 7; Dallas Yankees (3-2) nipped Orange Rangrs (2- 2) by a 1-0 margin. Red Sox lead by one game over the Orioles and Angles. In the tie game, Mets Laurie Wallace walloped one of the longest home runs ever hig in the league; over 350 feet. Lisa Allardyce tripled and singled to pace the Reds win while Ellen Adams and Linda McEntee aided the attack with two hits. Pat Zukosky and Sandy Hislop led the Dodgers attack. Linda Dreher socked a home run and Leslie Wolfe doubled to pace Michelle Grossman and the Cubs to their fourth win. Mets infield played excellent defense. Cathy Dudek gained the win over Heidi Allen as Donna Richardson paced the Cardinals win with a double and two singles. Michelle Thomas, Carl Patton, and Cay Dudek each had two hits to aid in Allen and Debbie Hagenbaugh led the Braves with three hits each, Jill MCCarroll and Colleen Crane had two hits, and’ Brenda 'Stuart and Joan “Williams socked doubles for the Braves. Michelle Kravitsky walloped a tremendous homer and triple, and pitched the Pirates to a victory as she continued to play outstanding ball. Linda Holtzman socked a double and a single, Kim Sheffield and Eleanor Ehrhorn collected two hits each to pace the Pirates. Lori English paced the Giants attack with two hits and a nifty double play. Corrinne Martin socked a triple for the Giants. Vickie Martin fanned 12 batters hurled a shut out for the Red Sox along with hitting a double. Lori Law and Diane Hazeltine singled, Tracey Thomas knocled in a run, followed by Karen Brace’s single to drive in the tying run, and for the second time this season Louise Hicks drilled a single to win the game. The White Sox grabbed the early lead with four runs in the first inning. Doreen Askew and Karen hurled the angle to a win as Donna Ide, Jane Ashton, Jackie Williams, and Karen Cook paced the attack. Williams and Cook had four hits apiece, Ide and Ashton had three hits. Shari Weaver did a fine job of pitching for the Indians while Beth Donsavage, Laurie Angelicola, and Lynette Hazeltine collected three hits each. Nancy Shaw out-dueled Lynn Busch in a pitchers batter as the Yankees blanked the Rangers 1-0. Nancy Shaw tripled and scored the only run as both teams played tough defense. Karen Dombek made a fantastic catch for the Yankees in the outfield to save a run, and Susan Ridall = and Janice Steinkirchner turned in a double play. Peggy Elston and Janice Steinkirchner had singles for the Yankees. The Dallas Phillies defeated the Lehman- Jackson Giants, 8-3, June 19, and on June 21, stamped the Lehman-Jackson Cardinals, 14-8. P. Muldoon earned the win against the Giants and helped win his own game with a homerun. Haefele was the losing pitcher. Besecker, P. Muldoon, and Hudock did the hurling against the Cardinals and B. Muldoon hitting a homerun. Zielen and Osborne pitched for the Cardinals and Cragle drove out two homers. The Westmoreland Indians outscored the June 20 behind the hurling of Boodley and Martin. Enslen and Keller hit homers. Gordon and Evans were on the mound for the Tigers.
