Mr. and Mrs. Louis Purvin, 3 184 N. Main St., Shavertown, observed their 50th wedding anniversary, March 18. They + wre married March 18, 1925, at Dalton by the Rev. George Catherine Peters Cooney and John Purvin. Mrs. Purvin is the former ~ Pearl Horlacher of Ashley. Mr. Purvin, now retired, had been employed at a service station and prior to that worked at the boys’ school in The Riding-Ho 4-H Club will conduct a horseback _ ride-a-thon for the benefit of Heather Smith. The Lambda Kappa chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, Dallas, met at the home of Mrs. Edmund Ross on March 6, for their * bi-monthly meeting. A baked goods auction was held with all members contributing their favorite recipe. Proceeds from the auction will go to the chapter’s treasury. A contribution was made to the Nancy Bertz fund at the request of the Harrisburg City Council. Mrs. Bertz is a member of Beta Sigma Phi in Harrisburg. All pledges of Lambda Kappa will receive their Ritual of Jewels Degree at a special ceremony to be held on March 20. Items of interest from the month of February included a donation of various articles of children’s clothing to a Dallas family, an enlightening discussion on home decorating led by in- terior decorator Susan Sternfeld of Dallas, and a Sweetheart’s Dinner held at the Castle Inn at which time honored Mrs. Norman Namey, Kingson. At the present time books are delivered to six individuals who are unable to come to the library themselves. The service has been provided, ably and faithfully, by Mrs. Charles Miner. Recently other volunteers have offered their time thus making it possible for the library to expand its delivery area. Any shut-in residing in the Back Mountain who would like books delivered or anyone knowing of a shut-in who might be interested, may call the library at 675- 1182 for particulars.
