Prokopchak, principal. Ernest Ashbridge was elected president of the Dallas School District board of directors at the ag¥ual reorganizational meetin® held last Wednesday night. Hanford Eckman was elected vice-president. Both four vote. Mr. Ashbridge was appointed as temporary chairman and replaced William Cutten until the election was completed. Mr. Cutten had been president for the past two years. Following election a meeting was held to conduct the necessary business at hand. There were two recom- mendations by Dr. Linford Werkheiser, district superin- tendent, for conferences. One resolution covered the at- tendance of James Brokenshire or Barbara Landmesser to the E.S.E.A. Title III projects directors meeting, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Ed@ation, to be held at Camp Hill Dec. 17 and 18. The cost, $68, will be paid from E.S.E.A. Title III funds. The board approved the recom- menda yn The = second resolution recommended that John Jones, football coach, be permitted to attend the National Collegiate Coaches Athletic Association Conference in Washington, D.C., Jan. 7-10 at a cost of ap- proximately $203. William Dierolf, athletic committee chairman, asked that the motion be withdrawn until the January meeting. Because the conference will be held before the next scheduled session of the board, he asked that his request be withdrawn. The ‘“‘Magnificat’’ by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi will be performed also. A student of Durante, Pergolesi composed the “Magnificat” in a cantata form, dividing it into six move- ments for soloists, chorus, and orchestra. A unifying theme, found in the first and last move- ments, is based on the plainsong tone for the magnificat canticle. A French and a German carol will add to the Christmas theme. These two beautiful songs are lullabyes to the Christ Child, displaying the different sentiments of each country. The audience will be invited to join the singing group in traditional melodies of ‘Deck the Halls,” “O Come All Ye Faithful,” ‘Joy to the World,” “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” and many more.
