Birthdays are making the
news this week in our neigh-
borhood. Leonard Zielen, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Zielen,
Chase Road, celebrated his
ninth birthday, Dec. 6. He is a
fourth grade student at Lake-
Lehman Elementary School.
Robert Maturi was the guest
of honor at a birthday bridge
party given for him by his wife,
Doris, at their home on Sutton
Road, Nov. 30. Their guests
wene Dr. and Mrs. Craig
Aic@®, Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Goeringer, Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Hogoboom, and Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Stanley of Ox-
ford, N.C., who were visiting
Harveys Lake for the week.
On Dec. 7, Michael Havrilla -
was honored on his eighth birth-
day at a family dinner at the
home of his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Edward Havrilla, Chase
Road. He is a third grade
student at Lake-Lehman
Elementary School.
John and Elaine Elliott,
Harris Hill Road, Trucksville,
are certainly proud of their first
child Jason Luther, who was
born Nov. 24.
Christmas is just around the
corner, so the Jackson Town-
ship Firemen will entertain the
children of the township at a
Christmas party to be held Dec.
15 at 2 p.m. at the fire hall.
Santa will arrive aboard the
Jackson Fire Truck and there
will be gifts and refreshments.
All children 12 and under are
invited to attend.
bo Two-Fold Club of the
Huntsville United Methodist
Church held their annual
Christmas Dinner Party, Dec. 8
at the Route 118 Diner. Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Nuss of Lehman
showed slides and described
their recent trip from Southern
California up the Pacific Coast
to Oregon, Christmas gifts were
exchanged. Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Kittle and Mr. and Mrs.
Wesley Lamoreaux were in
charge of the arrangements.
Granville and Janet Miller
entertained at a lovely Open
House at their home on Elm-
crest Drive, Dec. 1.
Mrs. Edgar Lashford, Sutton
Road, has returned from
Jamaica and Trinidad where
she attended a week long
conference of the Board of
Glohal Ministries of the United
Meggodist Church with the
United Methodist Church of the
Caribbean.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Doran,
Sutton Road, had as their guests
for g@\hanksgiving her sister and
huspzind, Mr. and Mrs. William
Stiles of Geneva, N.Y. On
Wednesday evening they enter-
tained Agnes and Betty Gregson
of Shrine View, and their
cousins, Mrs. William Aird and
daughter, Patty, of Montreal,
Canada, for dinner.
_ Speaking of Agnes Gregson,
she certainly does have an
exciting job. As manager of the
travel department of the First
Bank of Eastern Pennsylvania,
she has had some interesting
trips searching for fascinating
vacation spots for her -cus-
tomers. Her latest fling took her
to the Canyon Hotel in Palm
Springs, Calif., and then a five
day bus jaunt up the Pacific
Coast from Los Angeles to San
Francisco by way of the Hearst
Castle, Yosemite National
Park, Carmel, and Monterey. In
Monterey she attended the
annual meeting of Travel
agents. From San Francisco,
she flew to Phoenix, Ariz. and
proceeded to. investigate the
Scottsdale, Wickenberg,
Camelback areas. Then she
went on to Tucson before
returning home.
One vacation Rick Agnew is
not going to forget is his recent
trip to Florida. He drove down
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Remly Sr., of Hunlock’s
Creek to visit his brother, Carl
Remly Jr., in St. Petersburg,
Fla., over the Thanksgiving
holidays. While there Rick and
his father and brother took a
motor boat ride out into the Gulf
of Mexico that lasted a little
longer than they had planned.
In fact the three became
stranded on an island and had to
be rescued by the Coast Guard
the next day. So they missed
their Thanksgiving dinner but
they certainly had much to be
thankful for when they retur-
ned. Rick is Ben Franklin's
right-hand man at the Gulf
Station in Trucksville.
We are sorry tohear that Mrs.
Joseph Galzin, Nanticoke, was
a patient in the General
Hospital over the Thanksgiving
holidays. She is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gimble of
Chase Manor.
Joseph Emerick also spent
the Thanksgiving holidays in
the hospital in Rahway, N.J.,
where he and Mary were visit-
ing Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph
Slapar. But we hope he is now
making an excellent recovery
at his home on Chase Road.
A belated happy anniversary
wish to Babs and Cliff Troup,
Post Road, Trucksville, who
celebrated Dec. 5. Sorry to hear
that Babs has a broken bone in
her foot which is slowing her
down a bit at this busy time of
the year. ‘ ;
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Lamor-
eaux, Sunset View, and her
father, Edward
Kingston, recently visited Mr.
and Mrs. Elmer Weaver, in
Dover, N.J.
The Thanksgiving table at
Jack and Mary Wilkes home on
Chase Road was groaning with
goodies for their guests, Mr.
and Mrs. Sam Pauletti, Bar-
bara Boroffski, Minnie Maz-
zoni, and Celeste Pauletti.
Sutton Road, had as their guests
over the holidays, Bob’s
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Reid Sr., Morristown, N.J., his
brother, Charles: Reid, New
York City, and Mr. and Mrs.
Bert Maidment, of Mendham,
N.J.
Patricia Brooke spent last
Saturday sightseeing in New
York City as the guest of Mr.
and Mrs. Ralph Weggel. On
Dec. 17 she will fly to her home
in Salisbury, Rhodesia. She has
been a Rotary Exchange
Student at Lake-Lehman High
School for the past year.
