peared locally and throughout
the state at many religious ser-
vices, benefits, dinners and
conventions. They now have to
their credit a record, ‘This is
The Day, Shalom,” which they
released recently.
The songs on the record, with
the exception of ‘“This is The
Day’”’, have previously been

is The Day’ was written by Bill
Cutter, a Shalom singer. The
record includes popular as well
as liturgical selections. Some of
them are ‘‘He Ain’t Heavy, He's
My Brother”, “Follow Me”,
“To Be Alive’, ¢‘‘Sabbath
Prayer”, and ‘Day by Day’.
The group began singing
three years ago at Sunday
morning Mass at the Dallas
church. Their enthusiasm and
joy of singing spread quickly
at many functions. They have
also appeared on local televis-
ion.
The Rev. Stephen McGough,
assistant pastor at Gate of Hea-
ven Church, is leader of the
group. Father McGough has
spent many hours with the
young singers, a friend as well
as an instructor. :
Bill Cutter, a soloist, com-
* posed his song just for the re-
cord. He graduated from Dallas
Senior High School in June and
will major in music at Mans-
field State College in the fall.
Song commentator Barb
Lynch, also a Dallas graduate,
will attend Lycoming College in
September.
The record is available
through Gate of Heaven
Church. It was recorded at
Roxan Sound Studio in Nanti-
coke. Shirlee Jones was music
consultant.
