In Division II action, the girls girls, 11-6; TMvision I All-Star game went 11 innings with the Shavertown-Trucksville girls edging the Dallas-Lehman team 8-7. Ann Hawk of the Trucksville Giants was voted the Most II All-Star game, and Vicki Vicki is a member of the Shavertown Red Sox team. Leading hitters in the Division II game were Ann Hawk, Kim Sheffield, Eleanor Ehrhorn, Brenda DeWitt, and Michele Kravitsky for the winners with two hits a piece. The Dallas-Lehman team was paced by Ellen Adams, Heidi Allen, and Allison Davis with two hits apiece. Other hitters in the game were Lori English, Joanne Cummings, Kandi Karuzo, Jean Franklin, Cindy Asby, Carol Patton, Cindy Leftko, Brenda Stuart, Tima Charney, Sherney, Sheri Grobowski, and Lisa Allardyce. Leading hitters in the Division I game for the Shavertown-Trucksville All- have been™girculating, the $40,000. Pocono Modified Stock Car Championship will be held Aug. 25 at Pocono International Raceway in @, Pocono. The even'Will be staged for the first time on Pocono’s 2.5 mile tri-oval, the track which has hitherto been reserved for late model stocks and USAC Championship cars. Format for the upcoming modified show will be two-50 lap races for a total of 250 miles. Entries for the race include some.of the East‘s top modified drivers; notably Ray Hendrick, Geoff Bodine, Maynard Troyer, Richie Evans, Ken Brightbill, Buzzie Reutimann, Jerry Cook, Ken Bouchard, Vern Chevalier, Billy Osmun, Donald Whalen, Jerry Dostie, George Brun- nholtz, Ernie Gahan, Gil Hearne, Graema Bolia, Roger Griffith, Dan Flynn, Paul Radford, Jack Duffy, Don Diffendorf, Will Cagle, Guy Chartrand, Charles Kremer Jr., Mike Loescher, and Tom Leeson. The track will be open for registration and inspection Aug. 24 from 7:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m., with optional practice 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The schedule for Aug. 25 will include registration and inspection from 7:00 a.m. on, practice 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m., time trials 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and the first green flag at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 and $8.00 for adults and $5.00 and $4.00 for children. Reserved - seats are available at all Ticketron out- lets. Everyone holding a general admission or reserved ticket will be entitled to free camping Saturday night on the infield, with the entire field open to campers beginning at 6:00 p.m. Stars were Vicki Martin with four hits including a game winning single ‘in the 11th in- ning, Lori Sorber, Karen Federici, and Rachel Thom with two hits apiece. Kim Kretchmer collected three hits to lead the Dallas-Lehman squad, while Carla Kuznicki, Mary Jean Onzik, and Kathy Aston each had two hits apiece. Other hitters in the game were Heidi Anderson. The best defensive play of the All-Star games was turned in by Jerry Hudak of the Dallas Phillies in the Division II contest. Jerry raced a long distance in centerfield to make a fine catch and then threw a perfect strike to first base for a double play. Ann Hawk garnered MVP honors with two hits, two walks, five defensive plays at second base including a double play, and she also pitched three in- nings, scored one run and collected three runs, batted in for the Division II winners. Vicki Martin collected four hits, scored one run, drove in two runs including the winning run, made some fine plays as the rover and second baseman, and was the winning pitcher for the Divsion I winners in gaining MVP laurels. FAST SERVICE Player-of-the-Week ~~ Award winners from the Back Moun- tain Girls’ Softball League were selected for their outstanding performances during the seas- on. To commend the stars of the girls’ league, Marnie’s Soft Ice- Cream presented them with gift certificates.
