Some 20,000 people attended the convention. As delegates to the ‘convention, they partici- pated in the election of Kiwanis International officers and trustees. Sandy will also appear in television commercials this winter in Miami, where she attends the University of Miami. As a fine arts and theatre major, Miss Kabeschat is a dean’s list student with a 3.97 average. She will be in her sophomore year this fall. A dedicated student, Sandy, during her freshman year, had leading roles in the University Senior Citizens Center Plans Summer Activities Esther Jones will teach arti- ficial flower making at the Luzerne County Senior Citizen Center from 10 a.m.-12, July 5. She will use various methods and materials. The program will be on Fridays for four weeks. Arrangements have been made with Crown Imperial Bowling Lanes in Dallas for senior citizens to bowl Monday mornings from 10. a.m.-12, starting July 8. There will be no charge for use of bowling shoes. Those interested should call the the center by 9:45 Monday for transportation to the bowling lanes or they can go directly to the lanes. of Miami's productions of “Barefoot in the Park’ and “Chamber Music.”” She also was the stage manager for the university's production of ‘The Sound of Music.” This summer Sandy is attend- ing the London Theatre Insti- tute at Westfield College for extensive theatre study. In London, she will attend between 25 and 30 plays a week, besides visiting art galleries and museums, in order tigsee the extensive collections" pro- grams, costumes, sceriery, and personal effects of great actors. Field trips will include Stratford on Avon, to visit Shakespeare's birthplace and to see the live theatre there; Hampstead Court, the palace of Henry VIII, to see his famous banqueting hall theatre; the Roman Theatre ruins in North London; and the famous Abbey. According to Hank Diers, chairman of the drama depart- ment at the University of Miami, on completion of this arduous program, the students are better versed in theatre than they might be as a result of formal classroom study. It is an exhausting program for the serious theatre student only. Sandy is presently in Paris to study plays there. Future plans for Sandy in- clude graduate study in theatre arts. Upon conclusion of her studies, she would like to go into stage production. There are still reservations i available for the overnight trip 0 see the Mormon Pageant near Palymra, N.Y. July 30-31.
