    Mr. and Mrs. Matthew
Evans, 111 Church St., Dallas,
celebrated their silver wedding
anniversary Feb. 5. They were
married in the Ascension
Church Rectory, New York
City, by the Rev. James Burns,
Feb. 5, 1949. Joanne Toy
Mallozzi, sister of the bride, and
Arthur Kitchen were at-
tendants.
Mrs. Evans is the former
Barbara Toy, daughter of the
late Marion Murray and
William Toy, Scranton. She was
born in Chicago, Ill., and
resided in Scranton and New
York City. Prior to her
marriage she was employed by
the McGraw-Hill Publishing Co.
She was the Back Mountain
correspondent for the Wilkes-
Barre Publishing Co. for many
years and is now employed by
the Dallas Post.
Mr. Evans is the son of the
late Sophia Jelinski and Mat-
thew Evans, Shavertown.” He
graduated from Kingston
Township High School, served
with: the U.S. Navy during
World War II, and has been
employed by Sheldon Evans in
his drug store since leaving the
service in 1945.
The couple has five children,
Barbara, at home; Carol
Honko, Shavertown; Christine,
Menlo Park, N.J.; Jeanne and
Matthew William, at home.
Mr. and Mrs. Evans were
honored by their children at a
family dinner at the Castle Inn,
Dallas, and a family gathering
at the home of their: daughter,
Mrs. Honko, Saturday evening.

February is one month I could
do without. My mother has
already told me about the beau-
tiful flowers in bloom down in
North Carolina. But my friendly
ground hog says ‘‘six more
weeks of winter weather’. Ugh!
At least the January thaw
helped to conserve heating fuel.
Local moving vans have been
working overtime in our neigh-
borhood. We have so many won-
derful new residents that you
will need a score card to keep up
with the changes.
Ruth and Ray Turner have
moved into their new home in
Orchard West of the Newberry
Estate. Their former home on
Sutton Road is now the resi-
dence of Bob and Regie Reid,
and children, Bonnie, a f{resh-
man at Central Catholic, and
Barbara, Chris and Robbie, all
students at Gate of Heaven.
Dee and Arch Mohr have also
moved into their new home at
Orchard West in the Newberry
Estate. In their place in Or-
chard East is Maurice and
Bernice Shater of New York.
Mr. Shafer is'the president of
Vulcan Iron Works.
Anthony and Patricia BePolo
and = their four-year old
daughter, Nicole, have moved
into the former Umphred home
on Sutton Road. Mr. DePolo is
with the Muskin Corp. They
were originally from this area,
but were living in Wayne, N.J.,
for the past two years.
Chuck and Nancy Brown are
now settled in the new home
which Jim Veras built for them
on Huntsville Road. Their four
children are all students in the
Dallas School District. Mike is
in junior high; Marcey is at the
intermediate school; Christy is
in elementary school, and Kevin
attends nursery school. Mr.
Brown is associated with Me-
tropolitan Wire Works.
Priscilla Circle
To Meet Feb. 11
The Priscilla Circle of the
Shavertown United Methodist
Church will meet Feb. 11 at the
home of Doris Parsons, Dor-
chester Drive, Orchard View
Terrace. Dallas, at 8 p.m.
The co-hostess will be Cleda
Shelby. Devotions will be given
by Nancy Deeble: A play will be
given by Circle members.
Senior Citizens
To Hold Party
The Back Mountain Senior
Citizens will hold a covered dish
dinner-Valentine party, Feb. 11,
at the center.
Members are asked to bring a
covered dish and a $1-maxi-
mum gift, to be exchanged.
Another new couple are
Dottie and Leslie Ward, who
moved to High Point Acres last
fall from Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Mr. Ward is with PG&W.
Dorothy and Thomas Cool and
sons, Tommy, a third grade
student at Lehman and John,
age two years, have moved into
the new home on the corner of
Church Road, at the Huntsville
Dam. They are just across the
street from her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Neyhard, who
live on the corner of Sutton
Road.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Doran,
Su.!on Road, had as their guests
last weekend Mr. and Mrs.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schellen-
berg, Orchard East, the
Newberry Estate, have
returned from a vacation in
sunny Palm Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Regan,
New Goss Manor, spent their
mid-winter vacation at the
Caravan Inn in Phoenix, Ariz.,
and at. the Castaways in Las
Vegas. They especially enjoyed
the nightclub shows of Tony
Bennett and Red Buttons. While
they were away their daughter,
Nancy, spent her college break
keeping the home fires burning
Hazel Fielding, Sutton Road,
returned home from the Nesbitt
Hospital where she had been a
patient, justin time to celebrate
her birthday last Monday.

Back Mountain Enduro Riders

square dance Feb. 15. The af-

midnight, at the Brothers Four
Restaurant, Main Street, Dal-
las.
Music will be furnished by the

Paul Grimes New
Trustee Ot Fire Co.
At a recent meeting of the
Trucksville Volunteer Fire
Company, Paul Grimes was
elected to the post of trustee for
the next year, to fill the unex-
pired term of Victor Spaciano.
Mr. Grimes is an account exe-

College. He is presently a senior

will receive a degree in ¢lemen-
tary education in May 1974.
The double ring ceremony
will take place July 13 at 3 p.m.

Methodist Church.

Miss Daily is also the
daughter of the late Ralph K.

was installed recently as presi-

delphia, as a project engineer.
